If your child has allergies please come in......
Ava is 2.5 and she is always coughing and sneezing with puffy eyes and a runny nose. I always just assumed she had a cold but now I'm starting to wonder if she has allergies. I'm not sure if it's anything specific or just seasonal allergies. So I have a few questions.....do I take her to an allergist? Is she too young to even see one? If your child has seasonal allergies what do you do for them? Thanks!

You can bring her to be tested. My son has food allergies, but was tested for both food and seasonal allergies before he was 1 year old.
The allergist we see is in Merrick. Dr. Stacey Radinsky Comprehensive Allergy & Asthma, P.C. 1699 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, NY 11566 516-771-4800 Link to her website

First our pediatrician did a blood test, which our insurance makes us go to a lab for. They were trying to prove to me that he'd outgrown his milk protein allergy. That test came back saying severe to milk, not to any other foods or environmental allergens. Then we made an appt with Dr. Radinsky and she did a skin test. That's when she puts a drop of the allergen on his back and sees how it reacts within a certain amount of time - like 15 mins. The hardest part was keeping him from touching it since I'm sure it itched. She said the skin test is the better test of the 2 to determine how severe the allergy is.

I could just call directly and make an appt right? Even though I didn't consult with her ped?

As long as your insurance doesn't require referrals I'd call directly. We just had the ped involved b/c they were insisting he'd outgrown the allergy and I wanted proof.
