If your child has any allergies like milk, gluten, artificial colors, etc... Please come in
DD is 3. I have been noticing for quite a while that every time she has a BM it is diarrhea.
She goes once or twice a day usually. It is not a ton. She seems healthy overall... But I don't think it is ok that every time she goes, it's so loose (sorry, tmi).
Anyone know why this might be?
She has always been on lactaid milk, but as an experiment, I am not giving her any milk at the moment to see if that helps at all.
I have a feeling maybe it is a food sensitivity or something causing this. She also has eczema.
If your child has a food allergy or sensitivity, how did you know? What were the signs? Did you have your child tested or anything?
TIA!

It sounds like a food sensitivity (also, eczema is often caused and/or exacerbated by food sensitivities). Could you try a gluten and dairy free diet for a month or two? I suggest doing both because it could be one or the other or both that is causing the problem.

My Dd actually had several food allergies. We found out at 3.5. They thought she was lactose intolerant and were surprised when she tested positive. Actually she had the exact same issues...lose but not necessarily diarrhea stool but was told maybe that was normal for her. All those issues AND some rashes she would get on her tummy they said were very dry skin completely disappeared a month or so after we removed those foods. We recently tested her again and she is negative. We are slowly working the foods back in and will see. We are very very slowly trying her with some lactaid milk only an ounce or two to start and working more in.
Interestingly for the past 2 years she could eat limited items that milk was baked into... Like bread or a cookie. Too much made her rashly... But that seems to have disappeared.

The only catch with both is that you would then not know which was the offender or if both were. The only way to know would after a period try to work back in and see which makes her sick.
I ended up putting my DD on an elimination diet a while back and removed everything but the very basics. Then we did allergy testing before working them in. That won't help if it is a sensitivity though. We had to clear hives though first.

Right, she would have to add one back in after some time to pinpoint the problem. I guess I should have said that!

We took DS to an allergist (Dr. Strauss)when he was 6 months old.

I would eliminate the dairy from her diet completely first. Nothing cheese/butter flavored, sour cream, yogurt, ice cream, milk, butter, cheese, cottage cheese. Give her a month and see how it goes.
Next I would try gluten free.
