If your children buy lunch...
do you send them in with a wallet? DO you put the money in an envelope, or just in their pocket?
My son wants to buy tomorrow, not sure what to do (He's in K)

Re: If your children buy lunch...
The first time I sent my DD with cash. then I found out that you can cut a check to the school lunch program and they will set up a debit account for them. In order to do that though, you need to get DC's account number from the school.
All of the kids have swipe cards and the teacher asks who is buying that day and distributes the cards to those kids.
ETA: when I sent cash, I put it in an envelope labeled lunch money with the teacher's name and DD's name

I use mylunchmoney.com to put money on their account and the lunch price is automatically drawn out on the days they buy it in school.

The school has an account with the meal service that runs their cafeteria. They never need to have money in school. I put a certain amount of money on their meal card and it gets debited every time they purchase from the cafeteria.

Re: If your children buy lunch...
I put cash in a snack size ziplock bag and write their name and class number on it with a sharpie. All last year when he was in Kindergarten I never had a problem.

DS just started 1st grade. Our school has a money card that the lunch aides hold on to. We put money on it at the beginning of last year and this year.

Re: If your children buy lunch...
I always send the $ in an envelope labeled with DD's name and "Lunch Money". Our school also has the debit system, but I don't want DD buying extra things like cookies, etc so I don't allow her to use it. I also write on the envelope "White Milk Only Please" since I found out she was choosing chocolate milk, and I really just don't want her having it.

Same at our school. And I wrote a note to her teacher saying she can buy a treat at lunch if she wants.

Either use the prepaid program or in an envelope or baggie with her name on it.
