If your DC has ADD or ADHD or just really active ...
Where there any early signs?
ADHD seems to run in our family, for boys. Only one was young enough to get it recognized labeled and treated with meds, albeit a bit late in childhood. The rest sort of just figured it out and because successful adults.
My mom says, ds is more active than normal. I don't have anything to compare to, so I don't know.
Ds is very active, always kicking and moving his arms, when he's happy, when he's sad, and he distracts really easily. If he's crying about being cold, or when he get his shots, he's very easy to distract with singing and toys. He loves the element of surprise and loves motion. I'm scared of letting him watch anything on TV anymore. He's totally glued to it, raises his eyebrows, coos, smiles.
I'm just wondering if these are sings his mind and body are super active and something I have to pay attention to. Or if its just the way babies are.

DS was like that, still is (though not as easily distractable as he used to be) and DD is like this too. IMO it's just normal baby development and behavior.

ITA!
I was just telling another friend today that infants have REALLY short attention spans. They are learning about and discovering this whole new world and environment, so it makes sense that they are trying to take it all in!

How old is your DC? If he's an infant I wouldnt even be thinking about it right now.
As they get older around 15+ mo. you will be able to notice if there are any issues. DS#2 is in the process of being evaluated for ADHD and he just turned 3.

My dd's preschool teacher (age 4) had a suspicion and told me but said they could not diagnose it that early. Her Kindergarten teacher and school psycologist (sp) had a meeting with me and told me they thought she had ADHD. She was "formally" diagnosed in 1st grade and went on meds. The only thing I noticed as an infant was her arching her back in the car seat on every ride. I did notice the hyperness though (more than the other kids and her friends) from probably 2-3 years of age.

DS is 11 weeks old and is like this too. In fact, the other night he was literally mid-wail and he just suddenly stopped and started looking at something. DH and I looked at each other like, wt f was that??? He's also kicking and squirmy all the time. I think its normal.
