If your kids go to camp all day
Are they too tired to do anything after? My kids are up at 7 and camp is from 8-4. When they get home they just want to veg. A couple of times a week they will go outside again but mostly they want to stay in. I feel bad cause it's summer! They get in bed at 9.

Re: If your kids go to camp all day
Yea my son gets up at 6:30 and is in camp from 7:30-5. He is wiped out when he gets home. I don't feel bad because he goes on trips or is out in the sun in the sprinklers. So he's exhausted.

I think I feel bad cause although they have swimming, friends and trips they are not doing anything with me! It's summer and I want to be outside WITH them since I am in an office all day! No homework to deal with frees up time to do this!

Oh yea I totally understand! I thought you meant you feel bad like they aren't having a good summer. I just started working full time - I feel bad because i get home late and everyone is wiped. Oddly even my DH is too, whose schedule is the same My son is so tired he is knocked out when my DH picks me up from the train station. This past Sunday he took a 4 hour nap.
I try to make up for it on the weekends or we bbq dinner/ sit outside on the terrace before bedtime on the weekdays. I know it sucks because camp really takes a lot out of them but at least they are having fun!

i feel like this too. DS is in camp from 9-5. Mondays and Wednesdays he has Krav Maga until 7. Part of me feels like he should be outside since it's summer...but he's so tired so i let him stay in and watch tv, play video games and read. He's usually in bed by 8:30 and up at 8.

Re: If your kids go to camp all day
DD yawns the entire way home in the car. It's a long adventurous day. She goes to a big camp and they change activities every 40 minutes, and she has to walk with a backpack from activity to activity. Not to mention the changing in and out of bathing suits twice a day.

Re: If your kids go to camp all day
How funny, I wondered the same thing today. I have one that wants to play In the park or outside, the other is too tired and just wants to watch tv. Both have been very grouchy, so took them out for an hour to the park and both were in better moods. I'll be taking them out a bit every evening, the tired one will have to sleep earlier

Re: If your kids go to camp all day
I kind of wish my DS would get tired! lol. He goes to camp from 9:30-4 every day, and is busy the entire day there with sports, swimming, activities. Yet, when he gets home, he's like "what are we doing next?" He is just very high energy, and that has it's pluses, but sometimes I wish he'd want some downtime. I often want to get some work done or make dinner or do laundry, not play camp counselor for the evening hours or set up play dates every day. Luckily we live in an area where there are many kids his age, so sometimes he can just find someone to play with outside for a bit after camp.

Re: If your kids go to camp all day
On days DD goes to "camp" (it's really daycare but they have a camp program in summer) she is there from 8 am to 6 pm.
She wants to come home and watch TV, have a snack.
Then we have dinner.
Then it's relaxing time.
Sometimes on a day like today where it's HOT- we will go in the pool and she is fine with that.
Other than that, not much. It's a long day at camp and I figure she is having fun and doing her summer stuff there so I dont' worry
