If your pets go outside...
... please consider NOT using chemicals on your lawn. DH and I haven't ever used chemicals, and we instruct the landscaper not to use them either. Not only is it better for your pet, but for the environment as well. Now our neighbor has stopped using them, since Scout likes to visit him.
So today I was happy to see Denise Flaim's article in Newsday - although I disagree on the bottled water. The EPA is much stricter about tap water than the FDA is with bottled water - plus those water bottles are packing our landfills!! We installed a water filter when we started TTCing, and we and Scout and now the baby all get the filtered water.

I agree...there are many organic fertilizers and weed controls that can be bought.
Not only is it better for children and pets...it also helps to keep our oceans and bays clean and preserves our drinking water because there is less toxic runoff.

We use only organic -- including salt in the ice and snow. Some of the salt that towns and NYC use are actually dangerous and painful for dogs.

same here...DH only uses it now on our lawn now that we have the dog and the boys

Thanks for posting this.
I only drink bottled water, and only give my dogs bottled water.
I also tell my landscaper NOT to use chemicals in my yard and go nuts when he does without my permission.
