If you're following Deanna's plan...

Do you get annoyed if DH wants to BD on a "skip" day? I think since I got pregnant the one month we followed the plan, now I'm anal about sticking to it. Yesterday was supposed to be a "skip" day and DH thought I was crazy when I tried to resist his advances. He has no known problems in that area, so I know I should just relax about "the plan" but I guess I can't help but to want to mimic that cycle. Anyone with me? Or am I just a nut?

Here's a link:

SMEP aka Deanna's Plan

Basically the "strategy" is to BD every other day starting on CD8. Then, when you get your surge (use OPKs) you're supposed to BD that day and the two following days, then skip a day and do it again (this part doesn't make too much sense to me though).

I tried to explain it to dh and he just didn't care so we did the deed. I ended up getting pregnant that cycle so I guess it didn't screw things up too bad. I made sure he had a night off before I got my peak. I was charting and using the cbefm so I knew in advance when it was coming. Good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks, I was thinking about it and technically, it was after midnight, so I guess that put us at twice for today instead of on the "skip" day Chat Icon

I wouldn't worry about that-BD if he wants and there are no issues which I'm sure there aren't since you got PG relatively easily last time. Chat Icon

I wanted to follow this plan this month but why stop after the few days after your O date?
I had a big problem this month being really late and wondering can I BD every other night until I get my period or is that not good???Chat Icon

Re: If you're following Deanna's plan...

We are doing every other day from day 8 to day 20. I don't know why but that is my midwife told me to do.
She said that if you do it every day the sperm will not be mature. I guess they will make bathroom jokes... LOL.. oh god I am lame...

I really felt uncomfortable with this and really wanted to bd on day 12 13& 14 but I stuck to the "plan" and stayed with every other day. If that doesn't work we will try a different pattern next month.

I can't imagine that Bd'ing up until AF is bad. But then again I really don't know what I am talking about.. Chat Icon

It seems that every where you look there is a different strategy to getting pregnant. I wouldn't get too hung up on rules of a plan.

Re: If you're following Deanna's plan...

with both my boys we "DTD" every night for 4-5 nights prior to and when I was ovulating. To me I wanted to make sure there was enough there. It worked for us, we got PG the first month both times! I don't see the point of skipping nights unless you have sperm issues then it's recommended. If you don't or you don't know, then why skip? Chat Icon I just wanted as many of them in there all trying to get in!!! Chat Icon

Re: If you're following Deanna's plan...

I read about deannas plan while lurking and when we decided to try we started out with every other night for a few days then went with every night - it worked because it only took that one month of trying to get pregnant - I would take advantage of every chance to bd
