If you've had a bad night with baby...
do you let him/her sleep whenever and for how ever long they want to, or do you try to stick to a schedule?

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
ds is 14 months and i still dont always stick to a schedule... while it is nice to say he will nap now and then again at this time, it doesnt always work... and while we didnt have a bad night last night, he took a 4 hour nap yesterday so i altered his bedtime to 830 instead of 645...

Awww, what's the matter with Tristan?
I'd just let him be (but we don't really have Ann on any real set schedule so maybe I'm not good for advice!).
Hugs to baby & mommy!!

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
i have to stick to the schedule since she's in Daycare.
If its a weekend, i let her sleep in.. mostly so *I* can sleep in.
If she has a bad night, so do i!

Up every hour again He had been doing it since he was sick. It was getting better since Friday, but last night we had a relapse.
Down at 9 last night, up again from about 10 to 11, then up again at 2:15. Slept in spare bed with him, but he stirred and I fed him back to sleep at 3:15 & 4:15. Finally got him back in his crib for 5, then up again at 5:45 - Seb went to him and he just doesn't really try to make him sleep, KWIM? He sits down with him and rocks him, when in order to shut him up, you really need to walk around with him. So neither of us was going to sleep with him crying like that. So I got up for with T for the day at that point. Back in his crib for 7:15 - he woke up an hour later and I thought that would've been his nap, but then he fell asleep on me and the two of us slept until 10 or so - whoops!
He's usually up for two hours and then naps, but he just went from 10 until 2 without a nap. I just let him cry himself to sleep But he's napping now, so I guess we'll see for how long...!

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
We still don't have a schedule set in stone, and DS is 15 months. If he had a bad night he naps when he wants, eats when/what he wants, and goes down for the night early. He's happy and easy-going so I must be doing something right!

I let him make up for it -either put him in for his nap earlier or earlier bedtime. I do something to compensate if he seems off and extra tired.

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
We're not really on a schedule either at this point (still at 5 months) so I kind of just go with whatever DD wants. That being said, she usually wants to eat and sleep around the same times everyday so it works. If she has a bad night, I just go by her cues.

Same here..but one night that did happen...and of course he fell asleep when it was time to get up and going I wound up letting him sleep a little because I felt bad, then I was late to work but I called....and I caught flack for it...

If she has a bad night I let her sleep as much as she needs, whenever she wants the next day to make up for it.

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
I try to let him nap more during the day to make up for it, but I don't let him go down for the night earlier because that will just mean another bad night of sleep.

Re: If you've had a bad night with baby...
If it's not a daycare day, I don't wake him up ......but I DO make him sleep in his crib. - I'm a total nazi when it comes to WHERE he sleeps ........
As far as when he naps, he's usually pretty on schedule, but if he's tired, I don't force him to stay up - I will put him in his crib to 'relax' even if he isn't sleeping -
