IFSP meeting ???
ours was finally scheduled (2 mos later and in non-compliance) - can someone who has been there tell me what to expect? will i have to just take the services they offer or can i ask for more - i.e. if they want home based, can i ask for center based?

Re: IFSP meeting ???
You are your child's biggest advocate. ASK for what you think they need. They may not give it to you and they certainly won't always offer things freely without prodding. Try to use concrete issues as to why you feel they need the specific services you're asking for. GL

Re: IFSP meeting ???
If you feel your child needs more, then fifgt for it. This is the time to do it. If your child is 2 years old, yes, you can look for a center based program. Do your research now on programs. You are your child's advocate. I actually threatened to bring lawyers because they would not give me what I deserved, and I got it

Re: IFSP meeting ???
I just had my DS done about 3 weeks ago. The best advice I can give you is to be strong and I know how hard and emotional this can be but try your best to stay strong remember you are a great mother for getting your child all the services he can get. Try and bring someone with you. ( Your husband or a close family member) #2-Don't bring your DS #3 Write down all the questions you have #4 Write down all the things you want ( Example how many hrs) i didn't do this and I wish I did. Oh yes I am not sure of your case but did they diagnose your DS? If so they are going to ask you if you agree with the diagnosis Please let me know if you need anything at all.
Stay Strong Krystal

Re: IFSP meeting ???
thanks everyone...i don't know where to look as to figuring out how many hours he should receive...he has a significant lang delay >33% in all areas, ot delays in some areas and spec instruction play delays in some areas
those 3 said he qualifies for services, but i'm not sure how many times per wk/how long each session. my parents watch him but they speak italian/broken english so i thought a center based program where he is immersed in language would be best, but i don't know if they have to provide that for him
do you know where i can look up service recommendations so that i can be better informed? tia - i appreciate all of your advice & support
