IL are coming this weekend and I think they have no clue.
They are coming to help with the house. They come from upstate where what we spent on the house would buy an immaculate mansion.
I think they have absolutely no idea the extent of how much work we need to do to the house. We have already done so much, and I know that DH has been hearing comments from his dad when he speaks to them - we are still living with my parents while gutting and doing the renovations, and I know they are giving him sh!t about that.
They probably think we just had to do some minor things... it took a lot of convincing to get them to stay in a hotel while they come here, that the house is unlivable right now.
I am concerned that they will be in shock when they see the house and that they will say something to make DH upset and I am not really sure there is anything we can do about it.
I guess I really don't have any questions, this is more of a vent, LOL.

i know the feeling. my il's can be like that. but you never know, maybe they will offer somethihg to help you out.

maybe once they see the house, they'll understand why you're staying with your parents-and why you've been doing soo much work to the house. Maybe it'll make them back off a little.

Lauren!!!!! Hopefully when they see the house, and all the work you've actually done and hear about your plans for the next stages, it will make them realize/see just what you've been trying to explain to them!!

Sounds like my IL's. Maybe they will see all the hard work you guys have put in and offer to pay for some things?

I have upstate IL's too and they do not understand what it is like down here. They almost fell over when we told them what we paid for our house, and you can't even find a house for that amount anymore!
They also think we are rich by what DH makes...well we would be if we lived where they do!

they have to realize that LI is expensive. maybe when they see it they'll offer to buy you a new kitchen!
