Illness brings out the best and the worst in people, doesn't it?

As many people know by now, a close friend of mine is very ill. No matter what happens with my friend who is ill, his friendships and many of mine are permanently changed. Somewhere, deep down, I guess I could have predicted who would be there, who would not and who would continue to think that the world revolves around them. I didn't want to admit that because all of our mutual friends are a lot of fun. Now is when we are finding out for certain who is/has quality in addition to being fun. Several people have pleasantly surprised me by making it very clear that they would go to the ends of the earth to make my friend well if they could. One person just needed some extra time to understand this illness and that is fine. My (ill) friend does not have the energy to discuss all of this right now but a mutual friend tells me that the ill friend knows exactly who is in his corner.

This post is just a bunch of thoughts of someone who has been doing a ton of thinking in light of a friend's illness. My thoughts are not about anyone from LIF but they are about the people that my friend and I have known mutually for many years, people that he would do anything for. Chat Icon

My friends from LIF have made it clear that they do not want any friend of mine to suffer. This sentiment has come from people I have met in real life and people I have not. I thank everyone for the kind sentiments and prayers.

I totally understand what you are saying.

Unfortunately illness is very hard for people to deal with. i have learned through my experience that you just learn who your friends really are and the ones that you learn aren't don't need to be part of my life anymore.

I am praying for your friend.. I hope he gets better and can have a full life..
