I'm a little nervous...
since this Wednesday, my SIL is taking DS to my other SIL's house out on LI for the day...its about an hour of driving and I'm kind of nervous. SIL's bf is a good driver I guess, they bought DS a car seat which they installed over the weekend, but still I'm a nervous wreck But at the same time, I don't want him living in a bubble and I want him to get out there and spend time with his family...its on a day that she watches him, so I know they are going to be getting out of the house pretty often now that the summer is around the corner. I know he is going to be fine and well taken care of but you know how it is...
Please tell me I'm overreacting a bit.

Re: I'm a little nervous...
I agree with you...I would be nervous as well.
Why does she have to drive with your son while she's watching him?
He can also get out of the house this summer in a stroller...

You're not overacting at all! It's normal to be afraid, regardless of who he's with. I'm sure he'll be just fine!

Re: I'm a little nervous...
Boy, have I been there!!!!!!!! My fear has always been being seriously injured (or worse ) in a car accident, although it doesn't effect my day-to-day life, it is a great fear. So obviously, that has transferred over to being super anxious of DD in the car with others driving, besides DH & I.
My MIL watches DD 3 times/week at her house, and it wasn't until maybe a month ago that she drove her anywhere (DD is 9.5 months). I still am very anxious/nervous about it, but there's not much I can do, unfortunately
So, unfortunately, I totally feel your pain, I really, really do.

Re: I'm a little nervous...
its hard to allow your DC to go somewhere with someone other then you and your DH. I don't think your overacting, i think its totally normal to feel nervous about it. I know i get that way too as my SIL watches my DS too, and even though i totally trust her, its still hard to not worry sometimes. but like you said, he needs to get out and about and it sounds like your SIL is doing her best to make sure its as easy and safe as possible

Re: I'm a little nervous...
I don't think that you are overreacting...it's normal. Heck...I get nervous driving my own son and so far no one else but DH has driven him anywhere. But I think that like you said...we have to let go and not keep them in that bubble. I am sure that your SIL and her BF will be very careful with your son. It'll be great for him to get out too and see everyone.
I think that after the first trip it has to get easier.

You're definately not overreacting. It's totally normal to be nervous. I'm sure they will be fine. And, after the first time, I'm sure you'll ease up a little bit.

Re: I'm a little nervous...
I can understand how you feel...
on a positive note, its great that your little one is getting out during the day.
This morning we drove to the park and library with the boy who I watch. I am sure his mom gets nervous till I email her that we are home, but she loves that he gets to do things away from home with us.
