I'm at my wit's end w/ my kitties
I have 2 cats, both about 8 years old. I've truly never had any problems with them until recently. When we go to bed at night, we close the door with them on the OTHER side, mostly because my little one will dance a jig on our heads at random times during the night, and if we let our big guy in, and close the door, they get lonely for each other and meow at the door 'cause they each know the other one is on the other side (I hope this makes sense so far).
So, now, with the door closed, the little guy scratches at it constantly to the point that there are huge patches of paint missing - she's clawed it all off. And our monster cat (just because of size) will try to "dig" his way under at like 5:30 a.m. because he thinks it's time to be fed. He's ripped up chunks of carpet! I don't know what to do - neither one of us has slept through the night in weeks because of their antics.
Does ANYONE have any suggestions? Would a baby gate help? I'm afraid they'll try to climb it...I'm at such a loss.

ugh totally annoying, i totally feel you though. i unfortunatly have no advice. they prob wont stop this behavior for a long time. i;m sorry youre going through this as i know how frustrating it can be. good luck in however you deal with the situation

Chloe in the middle of the night just walks right up to my face and will lick me for hours. What I do is keep a water spray bottle on my night table...all I need to do now is reach for it and she flies off me. It took a few times of spraying her and now she usually stays away...at least until 8-830am.
If I tried closing my bedroom door...she would meow all night long...

I had the spray bottle when they were kittens. Maybe I'll go back to it. I feel so mean now, doing it - it's been 7 years, but I guess water won't hurt them, and I'll be extra nice during the day. Thanks for the suggestion; I think I'll give it a shot.

we kept keys by the nightstand. We would rattle the keys if Murphy started clawing the bedspread or crawling on our heads at 4am.
It really worked.... he got scared and his 'bed manners' improved. Now we keep the door open at night with minimal kitty issues.
