Ella loves rice so I would crush the veggies up really small and mix it up with her rice. Try to see if you can disguise the veggies and potatoes in some of the food that he likes.

Nope, yours is not the only one. Believe it or not, the only vegetable I can get my son to eat is broccoli. Strange kid. Or if I give him baby food vegetables, he will eat the puree form. Same goes for fruits. I have no advice since I deal with the same thing!

I just saw this now..
Does he like to dip? How about raw veggies and ranch or some other type of dressing?
Sweet potato fries are a big hit around here..
Christopher eats WAY more fruit than veggies, but I don't really push the subject either. He also loves veggie sticks from Nature's Promise too

My DD hates them cooked- and I didn't force them on her. I'd suggest experimenting- have you tried raw? My DD will eat baby carrots and celery- not much but it's something. I used to try to "sneak" things in- she always busted me or she wouldn't eat it.
Someone posted a blog- weelicious- a few weeks ago. That had good recipes (haven't tried any yet) but the author also suggested leaving food in such a way that your kid "discovers" it on his/her own. I am going to try this- I find that my DD does better when I don't force things on her. She started celery after she saw it on a plate of wings DH and I had.

Re: I'm at my wits end...how do I get my 2.5 year old
I feel so bad bc thats the only time we really go at it together lol...all the other times we really get along. I just can't stand that he has become such a picky eater...I feel like I have to stand on my head in order for him to even eat something...never mind veggies. He actually likes salads with dressing, and will eat breaded cauliflower and loves french fries, but I try to stay away from the fried foods. Ugh, this is so complicated. He spoiled us rotten when he was younger...the kid would eat STEAKS, broccoli, etc!

I can send you an extra copy of the book "deceptively delicious" if you want, just let me know
it tells you how to sneak veggie purees into all sorts of recipes

i always disguised them with cheese - either a cheese sauce or hidden in mac & cheese. I also would buy the brocolli or spinach nuggets from the refridgerated produce section, they are breaded veggie nuggets that looks exactly like chicken nuggets. GL!

Re: I'm at my wits end...how do I get my 2.5 year old
My DS was the same...he ate everything and then little by little cut everything out. Right now the only veggies are raw carrots, baked sweet potato fries and the pureed broccoli I hide in his eggs (he likes ketchup in his eggs so it hides the broccoli) and he recently started eating pasta with broccoli. He is such a bad eater, but loves fruit! I am now help.....sorry

Christopher will not eat any veggie except avacado (guacamole). Lately he is not that into it. He is very very picky and it drives me nuts.
He does love penne vodka do I chop up some baby carrots in my chopper and throw them in the sauce. He doesnt mind at all.
And fruits he only eats bananas and applesauce. So you are most definitely not alone!

Re: I'm at my wits end...how do I get my 2.5 year old
my ds loves veggies. the way i prepare them are not always the healthiest but he eats them and asks for more!
broccoli and cauliflower- steamed soft with cheese on top (vellveta or parm) eggplant-breaded and baked carrots-totally weird but he loves them with a teeny tiny bit of honey to dip them into sprouts, peas, corn, and edamome (spell?)- plain or with salted butter mushrooms-stuffed from a restaurant or from chinese food with brown sauce zucchini- cut shoe string style, breaded and lightly fried sweetpotato- fries only (frozen ones) baby corn- dipped in duck sauce or brown sauce cucumbers-dressing peppers- made in wok with sausage. but i have to remove the skin

I tried this last week! He wouldn't eat ANYTHING other than pizza and mac and cheese.
I left some rice, broccoli and a piece of chicken on a plate at the kitchen table while I was still cooking and said, "aidan, eat" he came it, happened upon it himself and ate the whole thing! I was SHOCKED!!!!

DD has not eaten a veggie in I cannot tell you how long. And if I try to disguise it or hide it, she picks them out. I can't get anything over on her.

Re: I'm at my wits end...how do I get my 2.5 year old
My DS doesn't eat veggies either. I did find a juice that contains both fruit and veggies and he LOVES IT! It's called Fruit/Vegetable juice and it's in a juice box. Since he's only 2.5 I still water it down, but at least I know he's getting some type of veggie.
I've tried pureeing and adding to food and somehow he knows and won't eat it. He does like vegetable beef soup sometimes...maybe DS would like that?

Re: I'm at my wits end...how do I get my 2.5 year old
You are not alone.
We have tried everything in the book a and DS just doesn't like his veggies. He used to eat them well as purees and some diced or mashed, but no more. He won't even eat fries. And the dips do no good--he eats the dip using the veggies as a utensil..
It's worth trying suggestions people have posted, but if they don't work I wouldn't worry too much. Does DC eat fruit? Maybe give an extra serving of that and just keep presenting veggies--I am told eventually they will eat them. Still waiting, but DS gets some each meal all the same.
Also, have you tried veggie purees? DS stopped eating those not long ago, but for awhile he would eat that.
And really try not to sweat meals too much. DSs picky eating used to drive me nuts, but I decided to pay no attention to it anymore. He hasn't improved much, but meals are more pleasant.

Cailen will only eat peas and edamame. But usually we tell him he can't have dessert unless he "tries" something. Luckily, for him, dessert is fruit!

DS does not eat veggies either. He will eat some fruit though.
He has been on a muffin kick lately so I am going to try and sneak in some veggies but dont know how it will work.
