I'm back....
Tomorrow is my D&C and I hope to be on here discussing POAS and 2 ww soon. For those of you who M/C, do you mind telling me when you were able to start trying again? I refuse to ask my doctor anything- I am in the process of getting a new one. TIA

Re: I'm back....
My Dr. told me to wait 3 cycles, but it took almost 3 months for AF to show up again after the D&C.
I think the 3 cycle thing is pretty standard, but I also think it is a waste of time --- wish I hadn't waited.

Re: I'm back....
I had a m/c where they did the D&C and I got PG the very next month. Hope you find a doctor you like. Sorry again for your loss.

Re: I'm back....
A poster on here-sweetness got PG like a couple of weeks after M/C. I have read that the 3 months is just a guess and there is no real evidence to back trhat up. I waited for one normal period. I bled for about a month-natural M/C with methotrexate- stopped for 2 days then got my AF in October and tried in NOv. Good luck tomorrow. Is your husband home yet?

He was home Tuesday night and then left again on Wed. I can't wait to see him tonight. My friends have been so supportive though.
I am heading to the hospital now for the prep for tomorrow. I just hope everything goes ok.

Re: I'm back....
I'm sooo sorry you are going through this...I just had my second m/c in January. I know it ***** and you feel horrible!!
My doc said she had no problem with me trying again as soon as I get my first AF after the D&C. I had my D&C 1/20, and last week started spotting a bit. I saw my doc 2 weeks ago and she said I really didn't heal as well as she had hoped, so I'm going to wait one more cycle.
After my first m/c I tried again the next month and got PG. Then I m/c again.
I think each woman is different. Def. wait at least 2 months for your body to heal, plus you need to be ready emotionally again.
Best wishes to you and if you need anything let me know!!!!

Re: I'm back....
Firstly, So sorry for your loss
I did conceive immediately after a m/c without an AF, it was actually 3 weeks later. I m/c'd naturally at 5.5 weeks.
My dr preferred i'd wait until I got my 1st AF for 2 reasons-emotional healing and dating the pg.(I found this out after I got pg, and was soo scared to tell my dr). He did tell me though if I hadn't m/c'd naturally it could take my uterus a little more time to heal from a D&c and rebuild in order to accept another pg. I quizzed him like crazy, he told me there is no medical reason to wait 3 months or 2-3 AF's to start trying again.
DH and I truly felt like if we didn't start trying we felt like failures, especially me, I had to get back on horse, so to speak. I also felt that if my body wasn't ready to accept another pg, I wouldn't conceive.
You truly have to decide what's best for you and DH, some people need some more time to grieve, some like us grieve and try again immediately. I am still grieving for that lost child, I still think about him/her, what makes it harder is my due date was 3/18.
You experienced a loss of child, make sure you are ready for the ups and downs of TTC. I recommend the book "trying Again". It really helped and tested me to see if I was ready emotionally. FM me if you need more info about anything.
Take care of yourself

Re: I'm back....
Like sweetness, I conceived right after my m/c. I m/c'd at 6 weeks (naturally). At my followup appointment my doctor told me to wait 2-3 months, but unbeknownst to the both of us, I was already pregnant! I conceived about a week after my m/c. He assured me that there is absolutely no medical reason why you should have to wait - the only reason is to let the parents heal emotionally, and to be able to date the pregnancy accurately (trust me, after having an m/c it can be VERY stressful during the next pregnancy if you don't know the dates accurately). It really all depends on your comfort level and when you're personally ready... good luck

Re: I'm back....
Christine, I'll be thinking of you today I know what an emotional day it was for me when I had my D&C so you are in my thoughts
I also had a 'missed' miscarriage last September and had to have a D&C since I was not miscarrying on my own (and I was close to 13 weeks at the time..) I was advised by my OB/GYN to wait until I got 2 natural periods before we started TTC again. As so many of the other girls have said, a lot of that advice is based less on factual information but rather than the emotional state of the person in question. As Beth and Michele have proven, you can get PG right after a M/C and go onto have healthy babies!
For me, I took the advice of my doctor and waited those 2 periods before we began TTC again. I needed the time emotionally and physically I just wanted to get back to "me" (lose some weight, have some bloodwork done , etc..) I got AF about 7 weeks after the D&C and they were very regular cycles every since..
I hope your stay on this board is very short! My thoughts are with you

Re: I'm back....
Thank you EVERYONE for all the supportive words and helpful advice. I especially appreciate all of you who shared your painful experiences to give me an idea of what to expect. The hopeful posts of healthy pregnancies in the future were wonderful as well.
All of you are the most loving, supportive group of people. I had a very easy time at the hospital, physically at least, I know that was due to all the prayers and kind thoughts. Thank you
