I'm back ladies!!!! (kinda long)
Hi Girls. This is gonna be long!!
As most of you know I was hosptialized with my asthma on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday. Tuesday night DH took me to the ER and they pumped me with meds and then sent me home because I appeared to be 100% better. But then I woke up on Wed. morning and couldn’t breath again. DH took me back to the ER on Wed afternoon. After several hours in the ER and the doctors testing me and doing an ultrasound on the baby, they decided to keep me for what was supposed to be an "overnight" stay so they could watch the baby. The doctors said that I had to be put on a steroid IV drip and take nebulizer treatments very frequently. They would not allow me to take the neb treatments unless I was monitored by a doctor and my OB (who is based out of this hospital) because the medication makes my heart race and they didn't want to place the baby at any risk. Of course, I'm freaking out now and I am crying and so worried about the baby. My OB came down to the ER and met with DH and I and assured us that it was more "precautionary" for them to watch the baby but it would make them feel better for me to stay since I was on so much medication. Not to mention that I couldn't even walk to the bathroom without feeling like I ran 2 miles.
Ok, so the long of the short is that I was in the hospital until yesterday afternoon (Saturday). Nice "overnight" stay huh? Try 4 days!!! I still have a cough that stems from my chest, I am on steroids for at least the next 7 days, and I have to take nebluizer treatments 3-4 times per day. I have to follow up with some doctors next week and my OB to get the baby checked. I have to stay pretty close to home just in case anything comes up and I suddenly take a turn for the worse (lets pray that dosent happen). I am also restricted from work for the next week. My job is being very flexible considering I was just off the whole week before on vacation! The doctors think I got asthmatic bronchitis from the recirculated air on the plane and that with the baby and all, I was unable to recover on my own.
THANKFULLY, it does not appear that the baby was affected by all the meds and my increased heart rate. I got to hear his little hearbeat everyday while I was in the hospital...which was a treat! And, I met some of the nurses from labor and delivery who were SO nice. I am so glad to be home and resting...where I can actually take a shower. I was a smelly mess by the time I left the hospital!
St. Charles hospital was wonderful. I have never been in that hospital before and it was a bit of a “practice” run before the baby comes. The nurses were wonderful and I had no problems with my care there.
I’d also like to thank all of you that sent your well wishes and thoughts my way. It was so kind of you to think of me while I was in the hospital.

Glad to hear you're doing better. So much for a quick ER visit. Glad to hear little bean is doing well also. I'll see you in a few weeks!! Can't wait to be back in NY again and see the beach!!!

Hi Krista, So glad to hear that you are back and are doing better!!!! My Mom was actually mad that the drs didnt keep me when I was 10 wks. I couldnt breathe and had asthmatic bronchitis. Same thing. But everything turned out fine and Im hoping the same for you. Keep resting!!

glad u r home and feeling better. Asthma sucks ( i know 1st hand).
Hopefully your athma will be under control for the rest of your pregnany.

Wow!! I cannot even imagine how scary it is to not be able to breathe. I'm so glad that they were able to send you home and that you and the baby are doing good. Take it easy!!
