I'm definitely not doing something right
It is 10:00 and my DD is still up
She is refusing to take the last bottle and I can't just put her in the crib without
I can't seem to get her to go to bed early
What am I doing wrong?

Ok, tell me about your daytime schedule. I'm by no means an expert, but maybe I can help.....

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
Every day is soooo different - so I will do a round about schedule.
She gets up anytime between 7:00 - 8:30. Every day is different.
I give her a bottle about 1 1/2 -2 hours later breakfast - usually by 10:30
Sometimes she takes a bottle at 1:00 and will go down for a nap - she usually falls asleep while drinking the bottle. She naps for about 2 - 3 hours. When she gets up - lunch.
Around 6:30-7:00 - dinner Bath is after dinner (every other day)
And then she is up until 8:30-10:00
If I try to give her the bottle and she doesn't want it - am I supposed to just put her in the crib to go to sleep without the night time bottle?
The last couple of days - she has been boycotting the naps in the afternoon and wants to take a nap at 5:00 - which I try to avoid - but sometimes you just have to let her sleep for a little while - I wake her up after a 1/2 hour.

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
Hmmm....why don't you try feeding her earlier? Like, for example...give her a bottle when she wakes, then breakfast at 9, lunch at 12:30 before her nap, then an earlier dinner at like 5:30. She'll probably take her bottle then at night. What happens if you put her in her crib and leave her?

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
She cries for about 3-4 minutes and then goes to sleep.
I will try that with the food, most times she refuses the food if she isn't ready for it. But I will definitely try it - cause something has to change.
Thanks Rach

Like I said, I'm not an authority on anything at all when it comes to babies, but I tried a lot of different things with Ava until I found what worked. Maybe Ali just doesn't need that much sleep! Ava never used to have a schedule, though, and now she's so regular with everything. It just took time

This is what we do, we give them dinner about 4-4:30pm
Bath at 7 pm and last bottle and they are in bed at 7:30 Try to NOT play too much or too much stimulation after her bath, let her know that it is bath time and then we are going to settle down for the night and time for bed time. Tell her that, and let her associate the bath time with soon...Im going to bed. This has been working so well with Matthew

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
Marcie, I also wanted to add that around 6:30 every, single night, Ava goes into the pack and play, I shut off all of the lights and leave her to watch a dvd. She has her boppy in there that she lays with and I give her her bottle in there. I don't talk to her, I just let her unwind. Does Ali have a bedtime routine? I always thought it was BS when people told me a bedtime routine was important, but I tried it out of desperation and within a week or two, Ava had completely taken to it. Just another suggestion

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
Thanks everyone for your suggestions
Since Ali decided that she was only going to nap during our 45 minute walk today - it was easier to move up her meals. And let me just say - she just went to bed - alot earlier than last night.
Rach - I am going to try the routine - she kind of has one with going in the pack n play -this is usually when DH and I eat dinner, so when we are done we take her out and then give her her last bottle of the day -- I only wish she would hold the bottle herself

Re: I'm definitely not doing something right
My daughter never goes to bed before 10:30. While sometimes I wish she would go in at around 8 or 8:30, it's nice when she sleeps until at least 10:30 on the weekends
