I'm done before I begin
Due to a layoff we are now under dh's insurance. We were assured by HR that they have fertility coverage and its subject to the deductible. We went ahead with IUI #2 while waiting for the cards. Well found out today that I have zero coverage so now have to call my Drs office and figure out how much I owe them out of pocket. If this didn't take there will be no baby #2 for us as financially it's not possible. I'm heartbroken.

I just looked and they have some kind of veterans program too which I may qualify for as my dh is a veteran.

Also, check with your RE about creative ways to pay - and grants (there are different options out there- I actually have good insurance- with some locations - not the RE I am with currently - doing one last try with- then will go somewhere with better coverage with my insurance). Anyway, the RE's seem to really want to help people with either info on the organizations that help provide grants (often income based) and if they could help out as well- in any way they bill potentially (I am not sure of that- but worth asking - I have heard of things w/some med offices having a little bit of flexibility with using different more covered items as part of why much of a procedure may be done. Good luck!

I'm so sorry! agreed. I know one of the first things during my initial appointment was coverage. When I found out that IVF may have been my only option at the time, I have only 10k to put towards it. The office said they can get creative to bill insurance and could work with us if it came to it. Worth a shot to ask! Good luck! Try not to stress!!!

Re: I'm done before I begin
Two suggestions.
Are you sure you have zero infertility coverage? Perhaps it's just the way the RE billed it? Or perhaps you need precert first? I know with me, I had limited coverage but only when I went through a certain "program" within my insurance. Start by making some calls to the insurance company for more info. Your RE's office should also have called the insurance company before anything was done and let you know what your expected costs would be.
Second, your husband should try talking to his HR dept again. If they told him infertility was covered, perhaps they could actually make sure it's added upon renewal which is only a couple month away, most likely.
