I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed...and we're not even TTC yet!
Just reading the posts...trying to get through the acronyms...and I'm sort of understanding it.
Does it really have to be this scientific? My head hurts! I see all this stuff about cycle dates, ovulation dates, when you're having BD, taking temperatures... and I'm like WOAH do I really have to think of all this stuff? I'm so lost!
Is there anybody here just going with the flow and seeing what happens? Or is the whole following cycle thing and scheduling BD and whatnot what you need to do to make it happen when it's not quite happening right away?
Sorry for the post...I just feel sooo completely lost here and want to be informed!

ok, I'm going to be blunt.....when DH & I start TTC, I plan on raping him daily for two months and hoping for a BFP ASAP how's that for acronym usage??
I'm thinking the ladies who've been trying for a longer time get more involved with testing for ovulation and such, I can only hope that we can just "do it" and get lucky (literally and figuratively!)

I agree.... for the first month or two just have fun! BD your DH's brains out!
Then...if you haven't rec'd your BFP take some time to temp, use OPKs, etc.
When we decided we wanted to TTC we went out & bought Taking Charge of Your Fertility just to get familiar with what's going on...etc. We are both finding it very informative even though I'm not temping & charting just yet. Just knowing what your body is doing is so helpful.

We def took the "see what happens, let's have fun approach". I had a general idea of my cycle length and knew I would ovulate roughly two weeks after my period but as for everything else, no clue! I did take Mucinex also (my 2nd cycle - which is when we got the BFP!) because I had virtually no CM and wanted to help loosen things up, but other than that we did it the old-fashioned way.
Just go for it for a little while!

I was the same way. But I decieded that I was not going to be fanantical about TTC. We tried for about 4 months and got PG in that 4th month.
Only thing I did was check fertilityfriend.com to see what dates I ovulated. And even then, I didn't really follow a schedule.

The first month we just said whatever happens, happens. I started to step my game up a little bit each month. Last month I charted, this month I used OPK's.
It is very scientific. It's definitely overwhelming. Sometimes it's not the most romantic. But I think the more educated you are about it, the easier it will be to conceive. (Hopefully!)

I agree with you; I kinda feel the same way. But right now we're going with the flow and whatever happens, happens. If by chance a month or three go by and still nothing, then we may start to trackwhen I O, etc. I'm sure either way we'll end up getting to that point though!

Tara- do not stress out!! I think the longer that you're TTC to more involved you get in the process. Brian and I used mymonthlycycles.com just to have a round about of when I would ovulate but other than that we said we'd go the old fashioned way for at least the 1st three months and we were very fortunate to get a BFP. if it took more than 3 months then we were gonna step up our game! HAVE FUN with it!!

Since youre not trying right now, then ignore all the temp, charts, OPK stuff. My BEST advice to you woul dbe to satrt paying attention to your cycles and writing down when you get your period. Keep track for about 3-4 mons before you seriously start TTC and then worry about all those other things

Re: I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed...and we're not even TTC yet!
Right now we are just seeing what happens. This will be our second month TTC (which is still scary even saying that!!). I have a very regular cycle so in my head I try to make sure we BD on what I think are the "good" days but if I start talking about it being scheduled or anything with my DH right now, or using OPK's I know it will freak him out so for now I am just keeping my fingers crossed that we time it right!
