I'm going there: Sex in the 1st trimester
Ever since last weekend, with an "unfortunate" event involving cramping and bleeding after sex, we've been told no more until at least the 2nd trimester. Any of you told to abstain for awhile? When were you given the "go-ahead"?
We can do absolutely nothing--and it sucks.

It sucks but the 2nd trimester will be here before you know it. I was not told to abstain but I did anyway because I was just nervous and I didn't want to do anything until I saw my OB and knew my cervix was closed up tight and everything was good. I just felt better waiting.
BUT.........here is something to look forward too!! I am just over 17 weeks and let me tell you, lately I've been having crazy sex dreams about my DH and waaaaaaaaaay more of an interest in having sex. And, to make things better, and this is TMI BUT.........the orgasms!!!!! Oh my gosh, so much more intense than ever, it's awesome!!!
So at least you will have something to look forward to once you get out of the first trimester!!

I abstained in the 1st trimester b/c I was afraid of spotting. Why can't you do ANYTHING? Theres no reason you cant do everything but penetration.

We had to abstain for 2 weeks from intercourse and exercise because I had/have a cyst on my ovary that they wanted to make sure did not rupture.

i had some small bleeding after sex early on in the 1st trimester. When i went to my appointment, i told the doctor and he said as long as it stopped... we were fine. He did not tell us to abstain and we didn't.

From the moment I got my BFP we didn't want to do it  I'm 29 weeks now and so far we've only done it 4 times.

My doctor told us to "go ahead" with sex. He said that it is normal and the baby is so far up in there that it won't mess things up. Although, I haven't been feeling much "in the mood" since we got our BFP. So, we tend to fall in around 2 times per week...sometimes 1 time per week.

Well, to be blunt: Right after my ******, I got a HORRIFIC cramp that lasted for about a minute, and then the bleeding started.
So I keep thinking: If *I* have an ******, there's going to be a repeat. We still fool around, but it's not very enjoyable for me.

I'm sorry Beth I had to abstain for 4 weeks when I was 9 weeks because I had bleeding and cramping. While we couldn't actually have sex, we became much more creative in remaining close. While I couldn't have an "O", we still had fun. But let me tell you- it's totally true what they say about the 2nd trimester. You'll feel great and be able to enjoy and relax about sex again.

We had to abstain for 12 weeks. we had ivf and the drs. were afraid with the elevated estrogen levels that I would damage my ovaries. It definitely sucked, but we just had fun in other ways!!
