I'm going to make Guacamole tonight but how do I keep it from turning bad after 2 days?
Is there a secret to keeping it fresh? Does keeping the avocado pits in it help?

i find that the citrus from the lime keeps it fresh and I cover it super tight with plastic wrap. it never lasts longer than 1-2 days in my house though haha

I wouldn't say its bad, it just starts to brown...The pit works but not for 2 days, maybe several hours...If your doing it for a party I would do it for the day of.

If you're not serving it tonight, you can prep all of the ingredients and then cut and add the avocado when you're ready to serve. - You can't prep guac in advance, it bronws ........no one wants to eat brown guacamole.

I was going to say the same thing about the lime juice. But I still wouldn't prepare it more than the night before. Sorry.

I've had success flattening out the top of the guac, squeezing a layer of lime over the top, and covering it with saran directly on the guac, not over the top of the bowl. It's kept it from browning but only for a day. Never tried 2 days.

Thanks & I guess you're right about it not lasting more than 2 days anyway since I'd probably have the entire thing in 1 sitting.

Re: I'm going to make Guacamole tonight but how do I keep it from turning bad after 2 days?
We make guacamole all the time at our house.
You can always prep all the ingredients beforehand and just add the avocado when you're ready. Otherwise, the lime juice in the guacamole will help from turning it brown. In addition, when storing, cover the whole thing with plastic wrap. Take the plastic wrap and push it down on the guacamole so that it's touching it and covering it directly. Then put the lid on it. It really helps to keep it from turning brown.
