I'm having a heck of a time picking out a playard!
sigh. I'm worried about bassinet quality. I read good reviews, register for a playard, and later find bad reviews on other sites stating the bassinet sags.
We would like to keep the playard at mom's house (since it has the play area, the bassinet, and the changing table.... super convenient!)
But that means there will be no bassinet back-up at her place. It can't be a piece of junk!
Please recommend your playard. I WOULD get a graco pack n' play, but I need convincing since I don't find any of the current models attractive (most have plaid or prints... I'd like something more subtle / modern, if humanly possible) I WILL sacrifice looks for function, though.
THIS WEEK, I registered for the baby trend playard Ahhh, registering is so frustrating sometimes!
thanks for your help!

Re: I'm having a heck of a time picking out a playard!
i registered for the simplicity rainforest pack and play - it got very good reviews on BRU.
i am a fairly picky person, but if i see something that got 4 out of 5 stars, i will read all the reviews to find out why - and then make my own decision.
ETA: we purchased this with the intention of leaving it up in the house and not bringing it anywhere with us. the baby will probably sleep in it for the first few months, because i want the baby in our room.

Re: I'm having a heck of a time picking out a playard!
I have 2 Graco PNP and they were both excellent. I had one at my house (for the downstairs) and one at my mom's.
I never really used the bassinet part because my kids moved around alot and I was terrified of them rolling out of the bassinet.
You know that you can put them to sleep in the bottom part, right? I would suggest doing that so that they get used to it and when they get a little older, it's not a problem to put them down in the PNP.

I didn't like the Graco prints either so I registered for the Chicco in Sahara. I like the pattern and it seems really sturdy for me (got it as an early shower gift). Have you gone to the store and felt them?

yeah, I really have to go back there and check out the playards in person again.
Our problem is that our apartment is all cool colors (black, grey, white) with some red accents.... super modern.
so anything in the earthtones, blue, or overtly colorful/patterned would stand out like a sore thumb So the one I picked out right now is still sort of earthtones, but since it's taupe, it looks a bit grey-ish, and wouldn't clash as badly.
Normally I wouldn't care so much, but our apartment is rather small, so making things match well and keeping everything clean is the only thing between a nice living space and chaos....

Re: I'm having a heck of a time picking out a playard!
check out the chicco color selections, they may coordinate with your decor!
I too registered for the travel system! We got a booster seat though b/c we have a penninsula in our kitchen with 29" height stools, so the typical high chairs wouldn't work and would take up too much space for us. I would have gone with it though b/c of the pattern.

I had a difficult time picking out a playard as well. We wound up with Nature's Purest Hug Me It's natural organically grown cotton and very soft.

Re: I'm having a heck of a time picking out a playard!
ok, so on online shopping venture #458 I found out that the playard I originally registered for (top pic) is now available at walmart and target.... When I originally registered for it, there were no reviews of it on amazon, so I chickened out.... now I can check those sites and see what they say. (you know you're impressed that I found the only black, grey, white, and red playard )
I also found an eddie bauer one in grey (second pic)
I think I'll wait a while and see which ends up with better reviews.... Image Attachment(s):
