I'm having a rough time.
Ugg. Maybe I go through this every year and just don't remember, but man, I'm having a hard time getting back into our school year routine. Work is fine, I went right back into that no prob. Infact, I enjoy going to work. I like waking up early and showering without interruption, I like spending all day just worrying about myself and teaching without kids hanging on me. Ugg. That's horrible of me, I know. But it's the afternoons and evenings that are so rough. I'm so depressed without JT. I'm so tired when I get home and I feel bad that Ava just wants to play and I've already had a full day and am so tired. She's SO clingy and doesn't play by herself and I just count the hours until she goes to bed. I feel terrible admitting that, but I'm just feeling drained and it's only the second full week of work. I just really wish I had my husband at home in the evenings. I feel so alone all the time Anyway, I'm not looking for advice, just venting. I guess it takes some time to get used to again, especially since last school year we lived with my parents and there was always someone around to talk to. Thanks for reading.

Re: I'm having a rough time.
Give yourself some time to adjust, and be forgiving of yourself and your feelings. There's no need to feel guilty for how you feel - I guarantee most of us working moms go through the same slew of emotions. I'll tell you, my hardest days are those when DH comes home after Alex goes to sleep. I give you A LOT of credit

Re: I'm having a rough time.
It definitely sounds like a huge adjustment from when you were living at your parents' house. As you said, there was always someone around then...it would be a big adjustment for anyone.
Can you get out of the house with Ava? Get to the park every day, interact with others?

Re: I'm having a rough time.
Rach - I am so sorry you are feeling this way
I think it has to do with you spent so much time with them over the summer, that is VERY hard not to have that time with JT now
And with Ava - I think it will take more time to get into a routine between work and home.
I am ALWAYS here if you need to talk or whatever

Yeah, I'm going to go to the park with her in a little bit, but still, it only kills so much time

Re: I'm having a rough time.
I am SO glad you wrote this! When I worked, the very LAST thing I ever wanted to do was play with DD when we got home. Part of me used to feel bad when I would read on here how so many moms would happily spend every moment after work playing with DC, meanwhile I was like, "OK, 4 hours until bedtime...I can do this..." Then I realized those people aren't even human...I'm only kidding about that, but I realized they aren't ME. So don't feel bad about what you should want to do, or what you should be feeling!
My DH isn't home several nights a week either, so I know exactly how you feel...and it's OK! I defy anyone not to be aggravated by a 2 year old after a day of teaching!
Hang in there!!!

Re: I'm having a rough time.
Thanks, girls After I wrote this, I took Ava out for a little drive, then we went to the store and the park. Definitely made me feel better. Then when we got home, I was more than happy to have dinner since I was a good working mom and made all of our meals ahead of time for the week So, I was exhausted, but once I got my arse in gear, it really helped. I just miss my hubby so much and really wish we had normal schedules, but I know the pay off is that Ava is with her daddy all day, so in the end, it's for the best.

Re: I'm having a rough time.
Whenever I get down or start having a rough time, I tell myself that someone else has it 1000 times harder than me right now and I should be thankful for my situation and healthy children. I always feel better after I remind myself of that.
Glad your feeling better~

Rach, I am so sorry you are having a rough time. DH works nights too and on weekends so I know how hard it is to have to feed and entertain not only yourself but your child.
