Re: Im learning to cook

I put 12, although I started baking with my grandma when I was even younger than that.

There's a great cookbook called "How to Cook Everything". I got it for my sister for her shower a few years ago because she wasn't very experienced with cooking; it helped her a lot.
There's also the magazine Cook's Illustrated which shows you how to do a lot of the basics.

Start watching Food Network, especially the show How to Boil Water. It's for beginners. Plus, Tyler Florence is Chat Icon to look at! Chat Icon

Re: Im learning to cook

I am a huge Food Network fan. I also recommend the Betty Crocker cookbook. I have the bridal edition and it has really simple and good recipes for almost everything as well as reference charts.

Re: Im learning to cook

I was 11 or 12...my mother would call and say she's running late and I'd make dinner for the family.

I LOVE my betty crocker cookbook....has all the basics, the back cover is emergency substitutions!

Re: Im learning to cook

I was REALLY young...way before 12 when I started cooking... I loved it. I would love to help my Mom & Grandma cook...

I agree with Food Network and many online sites like allrecipe.com.

Cooking REALLY is easy.... Especially if you're following a recipe. It's just like reading instructions for putting an item together or a new program at work.

Re: Im learning to cook

I was cooking for as long as I can remember. When I was really young I would be in the kitchen and just watch my mom and my aunt,

Cooking is one of my favorite things to do
