Im literally jumping outta my skin!
I posted about a toothache the other day-
Im seriously dying...
Ive been dealing with the same "teeth ache" for awhile- and my fear of dentists had me put it off...
Well my pain has overcome my fear- I finally made an apt for 1/2 (my dental ins. doesn't kick in until 1/1) but its just a check up- in which then they'll determine what needs to be done...(which hopefully the next apt. will move rather quickly)
What can I do until then- because OTC pain meds aren't cutting it..
Any home remedies??
PLease!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
I'm so sorry!! I've had awful dental pain before, so I know how unbearable it can be.
If you need a dentist recommendation (for someone who is good with people who aren't good with dentists!), I used Dr. Lou Smoler from North Shore Dental in Manhasset. He was so good. He did a root canal for me and I had no pain at all!
Good luck - and feel better!

Ambesol doesn't even work and it seems to be make the "decaying" part worse (if thats even possible?)

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
I feel so bad for you because I just went through this a couple of months ago. The pain was so bad I would rather be in labor.
I took 3 motrins like every 4 hours and that was barely cutting it. I made the appointment and the dentist called in vicadins for me and they weren't even cutting it (even with the motrin).
I am the same way as you - I keep putting off the dentist - I am totally dental phobic.
Good luck!

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
Take 4 200mg Ibuprofen. I kow it sounds like a lot but it is fine. It is the equivilant to the prescription grade. They gave it to me in the hospital when I had my son. It will help with the pain and take down any swelling. Hope you feel better.

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
vicodin did nothing for me when i had that pain.
i took 4 ibuprofen every 4 hours, cold pack-20mins on per hour, and rinse with peroxide. it was the only thing that made it somewhat bearable. Also, stay away from hot foods (soup, etc...) because the heat will draw blood to the area and intensify the pain.

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
Percogesic! It's the OTC form of percocet. After I had Ava, my wisdom teeth were growing in and it was extremely painful, and this worked better than Vicodin. You can get it at CVS.

Re: Im literally jumping outta my skin!
Crush a tylenol and rub in to your gum line, rinse with Peroxyl, you can find it in the same place as mouthwash. Also, use the night time orajel (its thicker so it will stay where you put it). My wisdom teeth are impacted and due to the risks of having them pulled Im scared to do it-the whole side of my face swells and I cant open my mouth and this is what I do. maybe it will work for you even if it s temporarily.
