I'm more confused than when I started!! (stroller/car seat related)
So since I'm on vacation this week, I thought I could make some progress in researching the big itmes for the registry. Started with cribs.....not so bad - think I found what I want pretty easily.
Strollers, car seats and infant seats are another experience altogether! I read up on reviews in Baby Bargains, checked other online resources, and polled 4 of my friends for what they have and whether or not they are satisfied. All that, and I'm more confused than before I even started!
Tomorrow I'm going to go to Buy Buy Baby to see the options for myself.....hopefully seeing it all will simplify it for me.
Anyone else find the choices unnerving??

i got pretty overwhelmed when i walked into the stroller/car seat section of buy buy baby because there are soooo many, but the workers there are super helpful and they helped us find exactly what we were looking for...happy shopping!

This definitely helped...I know..you read and think you'll be ready and then you get there and feel so in over your head!

Strollers give me hives, just as soon as I think I've made a choice, I get confused all over again.

I think I've stressed over the stroller more than anything else and I'm still confused. I think at this point I've read everything I can and I just need to go try some in the store.

DH and I are going to BBB tomorrow too... I am sure we'll have that same confused look in our eyes!!!!
I have a list of what the best brands and types of things seem to be.
I just remind myself that whatever i put on the registry can be taken off and changed!
That just makes me worry more about the crib, though, since we have to out and out buy it!
Good luck!!

Honestly, just get a snap-n-go for now and get a regular stroller when the baby is older and you'll actually be using it. You'll have more of an idea of what you want once you've actually got the baby!

Re: I'm more confused than when I started!! (stroller/car seat related)
Not sure which part is causing confusion but I will share what I did in hopes to help.
Registered for infant carrier (I didn't bother with a travel system. Total PITA and the stroller is heavy and bulky). We choose the Graco SafeSeat infant carrier. Registered for Snap N Go. Best invention EVER! The infant car seat just snaps into the stroller frame and you are on your way. So simple. And the frame is super light weight.
Once DS was out of the infant carrier (around 8 months) we used a convertible car seat. Most convertible car seats can hold infants (rear facing) but we opted for the infant carrier for the ease of being able to transport baby without disturbing him. If he was sleeping, I could just grab the whole infant carrier out of the car and go versus waking him by taking him out of the convertible car seat.
Anyway, when he was 8 months old (and sitting up) we moved him into the convertible car seat. We have the Britax Roundabout - love it. He stayed rear facing until about 18 months when the ped said we could switch him to forward facing. At the time we transitioned to the convertible car seat we put the Snap N Go in the attic and broke out our "lightweight" stroller. We have the Peg Perego Aria. I have mixed feelings on it. Can be a pain to maneuver, but it has a snack tray and cup holder for DS. Plus it is only 7lbs. And he has been in that stroller ever since. He is now 2.5 years.
Hope this helps.

This is exactly what two of my friends suggested!

Re: I'm more confused than when I started!! (stroller/car seat related)
If you plan on doing a lot of walking with the baby - a simple snap n go isn't going to cut it for you - It's graet for trips to the mall or something like that - but the wheels aren't going to be able to handle long walks - at least IMO
But everyone has a different opinion of what you MUST have and what is a total waste of money - what is gold to one mom is junk to another -
I will tell you that IMO, the Infant carrier (We have a Graco Snugride) is the BEST invention ever - so convenient if the baby falls asleep, if it's cold (you can bundle up and put him in the carseat in the house and simply snap him into the car w/o disturbing him etc etc) They can nap in it, snap it into a swing attachment, the storller etc etc - and whatever stroller you get, get an adapter that the seat can snap into -
I have a Bugaboo - I snapped the infant seat into that base for months (w/ the adapter) I LOVE it !!! I wish Bugaboo made a double for when this baby is born -

FYI - I think Bugaboo is coming out with a double stroller to be sold this spring (not sure when you are due). Saw it on their website.

I did - but there's no pricing published yet. - I'm guessing that bad boy is giong to be $1500 at minimum ..........
I don't know if I can justify that

I couldn't agree with this more. DD is now 6 mos...just about grown out of her Graco Snugride infant car seat....I am dreading not being able to use the Snap-N-Go anymore...it is the best thing ever. I went with a Britax Chaperone stroller...love it and she's super comfy in there but the thing is HEAVY and it's going to be a pain lifting that thing in and out of my car. I live in a condo so park in a garage under my building - take the elevator up to my 4th floor unit so I use the stroller every day, several times a day. I wish I got something lighter...or even an umbrella stroller like a MaClaren for everyday use to and from the car. I'd wait it out...you'll definitely have a better feeling once your baby is here what you want. But I hear you - you probably want someone to buy it off your registry...that was my thinking. Definitely recommend the Graco Snugride seat though...no complaints and just about everyone I know has it.

I registered for a Grecco travel system and the snap and go... bring someone with you it can get very overwhelming.

Re: I'm more confused than when I started!! (stroller/car seat related)
I have one other piece of advice - get something LIGHT - the very last thing you want to be lugging around is a stroller that weights 40 lbs !!! They're also a PITA to push if they're too heavy !!
