Hi ladies..I'm glad I found this group..I have a few questions and would appreciate any help..I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant and I'm being seen at North shore lij high risk clinic because I have high blood pressure and my previous pregnancy I had a 27 weeks c section because he was growth restricted..he passed away after a 5 month nicu stay Chat Icon..I'm trying to do things better this time as far as picking a hospital with a good nicu and I think lij is one of the best..I'm being seen every two weeks at the high risk clinic but I see a different person every time I go..I never met the doctor who will deliver me..I would really like a more personable environment. and not a new face all the time..what would you do in my situation..I just want to make the right choices this time..thanks ladies Chat Icon Chat Icon

Welcome and Congrats. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I know with my OB they have you see all the doctors so you know each and every one of them bc there is no telling who will be on call the day you deliver. Could that be the case too with your practice? Do you know who will deliver you? Can you schedule appointments with only them going forward?

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I went into labor at 21 weeks with my last pregnancy and lost my twin boys, so I know how nervous you must be with this pregnancy.

I am seeing Dr. Alexander Kofinas in Garden City, he's a perinatologist and I absolutely love him! He works with Dr. Mark Pillitteri in Deer Park, which is a bit of a hike, but totally worth it in my opinion. I'm 37w4d and I credit it to Dr. K and Dr. P.

I'll be delivering at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had dd2 a month early and she was growth restricted and had other complications. Thankfully I delivered at Stonybrook and they have a wonderful nicu. She spent 8 days there and is now 10 months and doing great. I wasn't high risk and they were just starting to suspect the growth issue a week before I delivered. Honestly, I'd never met the ob who was on that night but she walked in, took charge, and I trusted her immediately. She made the best choice for my daughter and took great care of us both. You can't predict or control what will happen 100 percent but if you find a practice that you trust and choose an awesome hospital hopefully all will go well. If you aren't comfortable with your doctors maybe just meet with some others and see how you feel.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I delivered my first DD at 32 weeks at Winthrop (Pre-E and HELLP). I went to Dr. Kinzler and Dr. Muscat in Mineola for high risk for my second DD. Fortunately, everything went smoothly the second time around. They were both fantastic - and I really liked some of the other docs in the practice, too - particularly Dr. Chavez and Dr. Rafael. My DD was in the NICU there for 19 days - but I really thought they were great. Wishing you the best!

ETA -Sorry - to better answer your questions - 95 % of my doctor's visits were with either Dr. Kinzler or Dr. Muscat. Sonos were done every 2 -3 weeks across the hall with different technicians and doctors each time - but I felt I had a personal relationship with Dr. Kinzler and Dr. Muscat. They always had time for me. I was delivered by C-section by Dr. Kinzler in May. Only slight issue was that they did high risk appointments on Wednesday afternoons - so scheduling flexibility wasn't great.
