I'm new to this Droid thing- so what's the deal with apps?

Are they really necessary? My droid has a bunch already.

Do you use them? Which ones do you like?

hi there! I didn't realize you changed your name on here! wow you can tell it's been a while since I've been on lol.....

I've had a droid for 3 months, I don't use alot of the apps it came with, but I did download HopStop (for NYC walking/subway directions), the NYC Subway app, and a few ringtone apps (which proved useless since I couldn't use them as a ringtone and paid for them through Verizon anyway lol).

I also downloaded a Notepad app since my old phone had a "notepad" and this one strangely didn't. I use it to keep track of the A train schedule since it's so unpredictable! The hubby also downloaded some kind of "app killer" that stops certain apps from running all the time and killing your battery.

Nothing too exciting!

ETA: And of course Facebook!

I also love the Notes Widget (HTC Widget) which is like a big post-it note!

the guy at the store downloaded a lot but i downloaded bar code scanner, and a lot of games - soduko and solitaire, flashlight, yelp, amazon kindle, ww diary, points plus calculator
