I'm not a teacher but this is my sisters first
year with teachers gifts, for the holidays, my nephew is in kindergarten.
What were some of your best gifts.

My favorite is a gift card to a bookstore, Target, Starbucks or something like that.
If she prefers something more tangible, I always appreciate flowers or plants. I would tell her to avoid little trinkets, lotions or doo-dad "best teacher" type things. I hope it doesn't sound awful to say this, but I get so many of those things, and the reality is what can you do with them? They just clutter your house, or you end up throwing/giving them away.
I would way rather just get a nice, heartfelt card from a student than a trinket type gift- I think it means so much more, and those I will save b/c they remind me of why I love teaching!

I agree that a gift card is the BEST way to go. Some of my favorites have been Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, and the ever popular AMEX gift card that can be spent anywhere.

gift cards are easy - but I had a mom make me cookies once...and they were GREAT! She put them in a holiday jar - I just needed the cookies!

Def. gift cards...I love Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks so those are always my fav.

Another GC person here. No tschochkes though. One year, a mom knew I had just moved and got me a gc to bed bath and beyond. another knew I looooved coffee and gave me a dunkin gc. These are parents who got to know me and found out my interests and went with that.

ITA! there are only so many candles, mugs, etc. that we can handle. treating myself to starbucks or DD in the morning with a GC or a GC to a place like Staples or something is always appreciated.
