I'm pregnant and can't move that fast thats why

We have a special phone line for our customers that reach a very elite level. It's a direct line for them to us where they dont have to wait in a queue. It's a cordless phone and it's placed in 2 locations in our call center. When the phone rings we basically have to jump to answer it.

A supervisor sent out an email which honestly I am very much offended by.

This is the email:
"I don't quite understand the issue with this line and us answering it........we are ALL responsible for answering those lines. They should NOT ring more then once. Once they reach the pin level to receive the phone number for these lines they deserve the respect of us answering them in a timely fashion. The next time I observe someone on the internet and that phone rings and there is no response except for the usual suspects a written warning will be given."

I am 8 1/2 months pregnant, I can not get up from my chair so quickly to grab a cordless and answer the phone. If it rings believe someone else will get it a lot quicker then I can.

I am really greatly offended by that email. Maybe I am reading way into it, but I think it was out of line and from a supevisor she should follow her own words because I've never seen her make a move to answer that phone.

One more week. one more week. I hav to be good for one more week

I agree with you!! I don't think it would be asking too much that those that can get up and run grab that line. I know if it were me I would never get there in time..........these days I stand up and remain hunched over for a minute before I can even take a step. People are so insensitive!! At least you only have a week left.....hang in there!!

Good thing you have 1 more week left. I'm sure the email was not directed to you, but if it was Just for peace of mind maybe you should say something to your supervisor or fellow coworkers that in regards to the email you received, as much as you would like to, you just can't get up that quickly anymore and you should not be responsible for answering that phone at all, they have to understand with 1 week left.

It was an email that got sent to the entire group so I know it wasnt directed straight to me.

I just think it was a little harsh because not all of us can get that phone. I never asked for special treatment or exceptions to be made for me but this is the one time I really think I should not have to be responsible to jump out of my seat to answer a phone.

I am taking my 12 weeks and then coming back for a day and at the end of that day it's either going to be a big I quit or a big you're fired

But I did say something because it really bothered me and I was told not to take offense to it. It was geared towards one specific person who has never answered that line. I said the issue should have been dealt with him directly not the entire group. She apologized a lot and stated they just wanted it to be known.

If it's a cordless phone, I would have it at someone's desk. Everyone takes an hour.
