Im proud of myself ! (Those that dont have photoshop and need a quick fix solution!) my photo invite =)
We dont have photoshop on this pc, and I havent really played with it enough to be bothered playing with it on the laptop, so I just found a very simple (and can be very annoying) software, I think it was target or cvs, I can doublecheck, that lets you add text to the photo.
(I couldnt find any others that let you add text, is it just me? does anyone know of others (the store/online simple ones, I dont even think picasa does right ?)
Well this is limited in what you can do and how you can do it so I had to make it as simple as possible.
It's the invitation for my son's birthday party. he wants a costume bash like last year. the little poem is something I wrote for last years, but I just added a star wars twist 
and last year's invite was actually HIM in a costume, where you could see his face. this year I just found a pic of Darth Vader, and figured you wouldnt see my son's face anyway. so I'll do photos of him (and friends) as thank yous.
here goes. so if anyone needs a quick simple solution to simply add text to a photo...
I purposely blacked out the address/details on the left 
you can also change the photo to b/w, sepia, add border, etc. I added a white border when I ordered them.
sorry photo was too large, will add in a sec.

Nice work!
MS Paint (comes with Windows) allows you to add text to photos. You can have it but a solid box behind the text, or just have the text over the image without the box (like you did). You can change fonts, sizes and colors.

thanks! I didnt know that! this software freezes up my pc sometimes, so I may just try MS Paint. thanks!

You can also use Paint to put solid blocks of color on an image you want to put on the web, so you can easily block out text you don't want displayed, faces you want to hide, license plates, etc...
