I didn't vote because I think this is different for everyone.Younger is better for some people and older is better for others.

I'm 38 and pregnant for the first time. I didn't plan things this way, that was just how life worked out for me. I would have liked to have gotten married and had babies a little younger if it had been possible. That being said, this pregnancy is very sweet to me and my DH and we truly appreciate this gift in a way we might not have at younger ages.

So so so true aas well as perfectly said. I didn't vote either. Everyone's situation is different. I didn't plan on being a single mom at 24 but it happened and I made the best of it!

i voted 27-30 although i do agree, it is different for everyone!
dh and i are 28 right now and with a baby on the way. i feel like it is the perfect age however, we could have used just one more year. we are in the midst of getting our lives together financially and organizing ourselves.
plus we did not live with eachother prior to getting married a little over 1 year ago. so i would have liked a little more time but we couldnt be happier with a baby on the way!

and i am glad agewise this is happening b.c i really want 2 kids ( maybe 3) and would like to be done by 32.

Biologically a woman is most fertile in her 20's. Realistically, however, most women are having children much later for career and financial reasons.

i'll be 25 when i have my baby and i think it's the perfect age for me and dh both financially, emotionally, etc. plus, i want to be done before i'm 30 (28, maybe, depending on how many we have) and i'd like a few years with #1 first, so this works out well. Chat Icon

I say it over and over, im happy i had (having) my children while im young, i have my health, and the engery (although not much at the moment) to keep up with them.

These types of statements get under my skin. I'm older, but I have my health and energy to keep up with kids. My SILs are older than I am and have young kids and they too have their health and energy (heck, my one SIL has 4 kids, is 40 and will most likely have another one)

Why do people think that if you are older you won't have the energy to keep up with kids?

I totally agree with you! I don't like when younger parents use this as a reason why having children at a younger age is better. As if only at a young age will have the right amount of energy for kids. I know many "older" moms who have tons of energy for their kids and know plenty of younger moms who have no energy and no patience for their kids. I think that the right age is when both mommy and daddy are emotionally and mentally ready to have a life depending on them. I think that 25 and up is more preferable in my opinion, by then people tend to have grown in most aspects of their lives and have lived for themselves and experienced life. However obviously it is different for everyone. Chat Icon
