I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress...

Am I bad? Chat Icon Chat Icon LOL I love it so much...but I think I rather have the money.
I can revisit my dress by looking at pics or video.

I couldn't bring myself to do that-- even though I could probably get decent money for it.

I would definitely sell it. I have no use for mine. It's been sitting in a closet for over a year.

Nope, not bad at all. The decision is totally yours. My friend is selling hers right now and she's fine with it. I'm not sure if I could do it, I'm too much of a sap. Although, I just got married, see me in a year or so, I might feel otherwise Chat Icon

I donated mine a while back -- I would never where it or have any use for it again. I didn't think I would get too much if I tried to sell it so I got a tax write off.

IM probably going to sell mine soon too. I know I'll never wear it again and I doubt my DD will wear it when she gets married either.

Re: I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress...

I'm actually planning on donating mine.

Vinny wanted to kill me when I said that.

He thinks that I should keep it forever but I just think someone in need could use a really nice, designer gown... I feel like they deserve to be able to wear that- you know? To feel like a princess even though they might not be able to afford a gown.

Don't get me wrong- Vin is not a cold hearted monster lol he just thinks that b/c it's my wedding gown it's sentimental and special- I can see his point, I just don't know. Chat Icon

My DH is the same way. He sees it like that was the beginning of our new life together and we should keep it.

I wouldn't sell mine because I probably wouldn't make any money on it. It was decently expensive, but the resale value on wedding gowns is very low. If anything, I would donate it too.

Re: I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress...

I plan on making mine a christening gown that both a baby boy or girl could wear.

My dress has a very plain skirt - just lots of plain white silk satin, so I feel like it'll make a beautiful christening outfit. I'd love for my future children to be clothed in the same fabric I was, on the very same altar. Chat Icon

Mine has been sitting in a box in a closet for over 13 years! I will probably never get rid of it.

I actually had an offer to buy my dress right after my wedding Chat Icon but I said no and have no regrets. Even though it sits in my closet I can't part with it. I'd like to know I have it around.

BUT it's a personal choice...so do what you your comfortable with. There is no right or wrong decision...as long as you have no regrets.

Re: I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress...

I understand selling because I'll never wear it again, but somehow I can't and I'm not a super sappy person. I just want to keep it as part of my memories.

Not bad at all. I put mine up on ebay shortly after the wedding but didn't get my reserve. I wasn't ready to part with it unless I was going to get a certain amount of money with it. At some point I am pretty sure I will sell it.

I was thinking of doing this, too. With the train. BUT, the christening outfit that my brother and I were christened in is still hanging around. In fact, nrthshgrl christened my niece and nephew in it, so I think I'll use that instead. I was also considering using the train to put a trim around the bassinet.

Edited for missing words and just typing plain stupid.
