Immune Issues
I have been lurking but now that I have my test results I can post.
Long story short, my sister has had many miscarriages due to mainly immune issues and MTHFR. Before I start to try to become pg I went for some blood testing with Dr. Beer's office, now Dr. Stricker's office since his passing. I came back with:
MTHFR positive for 1 part Immune Issues Hi-Blood Sugar Slow thyroid low seratonin
He wants to treat me for issues that are just above the normal range for "his range" which is different from the lab's range (his is lower).
I had a consult with SIRM and Dr. Levine had suggested that I do nothing now unless something happens. I am sorry but I had to watch my sister have a baby at 5 1/2 months pg and he didn't make it.
I'm a little freaked out and not sure which way to go.
I am going to schedule a consult with Dr. Alex Kofinas (I have heard good things about him) and see what he says and take it from there.
Anyone have similar results or seeing the same Dr's?
Thanks for listening,
Patty

Immune Issues
What immune issues? Can you be more specific?
As far as treatment, what are they recommending? Folgard for the MTHFR? Lexapro for the seratonin? Glucophage?
Are they recommending IVIg?

Re: Immune Issues
Natural Killer Cells/Anti-DNA Histones/Leukocyte Antribody Detection. NK's are elvated, so he suggested IVIG and LIT (which you have to get in Mexico) for the NK's and the LAD. A Dexamethazone pill also.
Cytokines I would need Humera for 1 month.
Seratonin was low, so he suggested Lexapro.
Hi Blood sugar (which is 87 and my insulin, free was 25) he suggested Metformin 2x day.
MTHFR, folgard, baby aspirin (which I am already taking) and then he wants me to take Lovenox/Heparin.
My progesterone is low so I need the shot for that (I forgot the name of it)
Thyroid, underactive. He suggested Synthroid.
Ughhhhhh............too much!!!

Re: Immune Issues
I am very very famiiar with all this...
Though I have not seen Dr Beer or Dr Stricker, I have been to Dr Jonathan Scher, and more recently Dr Toth...
I am also researching LIT...I am a 4.1 Dq alpha match with DH and have low LAD.
I also have raised TH1:TH2, raised ACA, homzygous for MTHFR, raised cd19 B cells.
I have been seriously considering a consult with Dr Stricker. I loved Dr Scher, but I find him to be quite conservative in his recommendations.
If you haven't already, I would suggest you join IVF Connections and go to their immune board, and also the immunology group on Yahoo.

Re: Immune Issues
Dr. Scher is with SIRM, correct? I'm 32 and don't have the time to "see what happens" so I don't think I'm gonna do that, even though that's what everyone tells me to do. I think that's what everyone wants to hear so they like that idea.
Dr. Stricker was nice, I only spoke to him once so far, but everything is a price with them. An email will cost $75 blah blah blah. I can't hink of it in a money aspect, none of them accept insurance I don't think so it's gonna be what it's gonna be.
I hope Dr. Kofinas gives me some insite.
I had to wait approx 3 weeks to get an appt. with Dr. Stricker.
I wish us all luck!!!
