Immunization/Normal Side Effects - LONG and TMI
DS is 14 weeks old. He got 3 immunizations on Thursday morning. The first was the oral rotovirus one (it was his second one). Then he had his polio shot in the leg. The he had a third shot which I think was the PCV (i know, I'm not going to win mommy of the year by not knowing that). Anyway, this is his second round of shots. He had the first set a month ago. He didn't have an effects either time except that he was very lethargic and sleepy.
However, I think he is having some poopy issues and I'm not sure if they are shot related. Sorry but this is going to be TMI. DS usually has a BM once per day and it is normally a greenish color. He eats formula only. He didn't go on Friday which isn't totally abnormal. He did go very early Saturday morning and it looked normal. Then a few hours later he went again. It was the most god awful thing I've ever smelled from him so far. It was a little bit "mucussy" but color was normal. Then a few hours later he went again. This time is was yellow and watery. So I started to get a little concerned. This morning he went and it looked normal. Then he went three more times since then and again yellow an somewhat watery. And the consistancy looked funny. Almost like scrambled eggs. I know, gross. But seriosuly, i'm just wondering if you think he may be sick or if you think this might be a side effect of the shots he received. I plan on calling the ped. tomorrow. He doesn't seem bothered by it. No crying or fever. Let me know if anyone has had any similar experiences. Thanks from one paranoid mommy :)

Sounds like he has a little diarrhea. I would guess it's a side effect of the shots but I would call the Ped. just be make sure.

That could be the rotovirus. Our ped did it by itself and told us his BM could be affected.
I would call the Ped if you are concerned.
I always ask the ped for the possible side effect so I don't freak out.
Of course, if DC has a high fever, not eating, etc... this is a reason for concern.

Re: Immunization/Normal Side Effects - LONG and TMI
Thanks...unfortunately I was so busy trying to soothe him from crying that I didn't pay 100% attention to the side effects. I do remember them saying fever. Everything else seems normal. No temp. No change in eating. Not abnormally cranky. I'm curious to see how he is tomorrow and if daycare gives me a call sending him home. Thanks!

thank for the reassurance....I'm still going to call. The only thing that has me hesistant is that he didn't have this side effect last month when he go it. However, it seems logical given no other side-effects that it very well could be related to it. Thanks so much!!

But this was his 2nd doose of it and he has 1 more left. Call and see what they say but it makes total sense that it's from the rotovirus.
