In home babysitters...how did you find yours?
We are in the process of trying to find someone part time (a couple of flexible days) to babysit in our home. How did you find your sitter? I am not comfortable posting an ad and getting strangers. Any suggestions?

Re: In home babysitters...how did you find yours?
I spoke to a preschool teacher in a Co-Op and was able to get a few recommendations on home babysitters. I knew the teacher so I was comfortable taking recommendation and then interviewed babysitter.
Suggest : go to local preschool (part-time not a day-care) and ask if any recommendations of babysitters : ask at local library if list of reputable babysitters :ask at church usually has a moms/play group, etc. : ask neighbors if now anyone any neighbor that babysits.
Hope thast helps!! Good luck!

Re: In home babysitters...how did you find yours?
Thanks for the leads. So far, I have contacted there preschool to see if they knew of anyone. I sort asked around at the library which I am some what friendly with the librarians. I guess as you suggested, I should contact the church.
thanks again.

Re: In home babysitters...how did you find yours?
We have a nanny full time that we found on sittercity.com and we LOVE her.
It is hard to leave your child with a "stranger" but all the people we interviewed that came recommended we disliked very much.
We ran a background check, got a reference, copies of her license and ss card, and spent time with her to get to know her to get comfortable.
It is probably easier to find a sitter from a friend than a nanny, so of course I would ask anyone you know.
HTH.

Re: In home babysitters...how did you find yours?
when i was contemplating on going back to work i started looking into this....i posted on facebook if anyone knew anyone and i got TONS of feedback. def ask friends and family.
also, try your library. turns out i had someone on the next block over from me who does in home daycare. i was there with my daughter and she was playing with the kids she watches and we started talking. then she started talking to the librarian about the other lady who does daycare and also brings the kids there every now and then. so when i was there another day i actually asked the librarian about the people who come in with day care kids and she gave me some good info on them! i had soooo many choices just from those 2 ways
