In lieu of flowers ?
My friend's dad just passed away. She's 8m preggo w # 2. such a sad time for this to happen. We will go to the wake, and send a sympathy card. Im sure their close family is getting tons of flowers, so I was wondering what else we can do, that might be more helpful to her, instead of flowers.
Ideas ? Thanks

Re: In lieu of flowers ?
My friends mother died recently and she was also 7 months pregnant - me and my friends arranged to have food prepared from a local deli and sent to the house.
I know you have children of your own and cooking a meal for her would he hard - how about sending over a tray of cookies or some food?

Re: In lieu of flowers ?
When my MIL passed away my Husband's job sent us a bagel platter with about 2 dozen bagels, a few kinds of cream cheese and some cold cuts. It was awesome because it was something we could throw together quick and we also had a lot of people stopping by so we were able to set it up on the table and they could help themselves.

Re: In lieu of flowers ?
Thats a great idea! and I dont mind cooking at all.
One of my mommy groups has a few girls bringing me meals, and I feel so appreciative (yet awkward, I guess moms dont like/cant adjust to being the ones that are being cared for!)
But thats a great idea, I'll make them a meal one day. thanks
I can email her hubby to see what day would be good.

Food, food, and food. It's a great time and effort saver on her part both now and after she had delivered.

Food. The last funeral we went to we sent over a platter from a local deli - it helps tremendously because the family will have so many guests coming and going over the next few days, so they don't have to think about serving their guests.

I think maybe some meals would be nice also that way she can just take them out of the freezer and maybe some sort of donation to a chartiy.

Definitely food!! It is Jewish tradition to send food when someone dies. It is good so the greiving family doesn't have to worry about what to eat. After losing my dad and all my grandparents within a few years, I can't tell you how helpful it was.
If you don't want to do that, you can donate $ to a charity. Perhaps something relating to the way he passed.
