In need of car seat and stroller advice
Hi all,
I'm sorry if this has been asked before - I searched and couldn't find it.
I'm a mommy to be - getting ready to register.
Can you tell me what car seats and strollers you like or dislike? Did you get a car seat and snap and go -or did you get a travel system? And if you got the the snap and go, what stroller is best for later on?
Thanks!

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I registered for and received the Chicco Travel System. Later (when DS was about 3 mos old) bought the snap and go, for traveling (we flew when he was 4 mos and 6 mos). I ended up using it all the time when we wen out, leaving the travel system stroller at home.
I now only use the travel system stroller, but want to get a new one as DS doesn't fit well in there with his coat on.
I have no advice on a stroller, b/c I am on a quest myself. I hear MacClaren are good. I just can't see myself spending +$200 for a stroller. I do have an umbrella stroller, which I used in the late summer and early fall.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
We never got the snap n go and I'm glad I didn't because my dd wasn't in the infant carseat too long. I have a Graco Metrolite and I absolutely love it. It has really held up and really IS light. I can push it through snow and rain and easily with one hand. We just had the snugride that snapped in. I've looked at many strollers and have gone up in price by a few hundred bucks and still haven't been as happy with anything I've seen as I am with the Metrolite. HTH!

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
Heres true honesty... My Graco travel system as nice as it is (and you will see beautiful styles) is HEAVY as hell and was used at the way beginning for about 1 month. Then I got smart bc the thing is so HEAVY and got a snap n go and snapped the car seat in that. I have not used the original stroller since the first month and only keep buying lighter and lighter strollers. I do not recommend travel systems. Get yourself a car seat, snap n go or snug ride and a nice light weight stroller.

It is not really easy to get in and out of a travel system once the baby is over 15 lbs. Get a snap & go & then get whatever stroller you want after your DC is out of the infant seat.
(BTW, I have the snugride for the infant seat. I hate it, but it is safe. I have the Britax Boulevard.)

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
Just wanted to add onto what Rachel and Kate were saying... the reason i recommend the snap n go is bc its 50 bucks and even if you get lets say 6 months out of it...IMO its better to go that route then to do the travel system plus its lighter. My dd stayed in her car seat until 1..I guess she was a peanut in height but same babies like what they had suggest come out alot quicker (6 months Ive heard).

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
We have the Graco Snugride and the Snap N Go. DD is 6 months and probably will be in the carseat for a few more months. I highly recommend the Snap N Go.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I have the Graco Snugride and the Snap N Go Stroller. My regular stroller, for later, is the Inglesina Zippy but I have not used it yet. I love that the Snap N Go Stroller is light weight. A drawback is that it is not very easy for left handed people to use the fold. Still, I am glad I have it.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I did not register for a snap and go, thinking the graco metrolite travel system would be enough, but it's HEAVY!!! That stroller is hard to lift in and out of my SUV.
Someone gave me a second hand snap and go (we have the Baby Trend one- the Grace snugride is compatible) and it's been great! I keep it in my car and it's great inside and out on all terrain. I can't imagine what we would have done with out it!

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I have a few:
The Graco Metrolite. This is all I use now since DS was out of the infant carseat at 2 months. LOVE IT! It's light - and so easy to maneuver! Def. recommend it!
We had a snap and go - but like I said - DS was out of the carseat so it was barely used.
Maclaren - Haven't used it just yet.
Jogger - haven't used it yet.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I have the Pliko P3 and Primo viaggo infant carrier from Peg Perego. The stroller is only 18lbs and folds like an umbrella stroller and takes up no room at all. I love it and that is all I used. I used it for my first and again now for my second. They now make the Peg Perego Aria car seat adatable and that is only 11 or 12lbs. My SIL has an old one and I wasn't crazy about but I recently checked out the 2008 models and I almost bought one because I love the minor changes they made.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
For me, the Snap and Go was a MUST! It folds into nothing and it's so convenient--even if you have the lightest stroller in the world, it's not lighter than this thing. As a result, I just can't imagine snapping the carseat into a full-size stroller. I also have the Peg Perego Pliko P3 which I've used since the girls were out of the carseat and it's also great.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
Oh yes - I should have added - I regret not getting a Peg Perego. I just love the look of it. I didn't want to register for something that was more money then the one I got - which was silly being that I had SOOOOO much credit at both BBB and BRU. I should have been smarter and done the exchange early on. OH WELL.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I have the Chicco Cortina travel system. My DS is almost 13 pounds and so far it hasn't been an issue. It's light enough and the stroller opens with ease. I absolutely love it.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I got the snugride for a car seat - We didn't want the travel system b.c honestly it looked heavy and like a pain to use. I have a snap n go and LOVE IT! It is so easy to just lift the car seat out and immediately on the frame - the frame is light so after my c-section I didn't have to worry about lugging a heavy stroller in and out of the car plus the car seat.
I also got a Zippy stroller by Inglesina and love it as well. I use it for long walks - or anytime I know I will want to take her out of the infant seat. It is heavier than the snap n go but it fully reclines and is a one hand fold.
Recently we got a Maclaren quest mod - that we will use for quick errands when she outgrows the infant seat and we can't use the snap and go anymore. It is a great lightweight stroller.
I felt I needed the Zippy and the Maclaren b.c they are really different strollers. The Zippy has one of the best canopies out there and with the full recline we were able to take her to the pool when she was a few weeks old b.c she could sleep in it and be shaded. The Maclaren is great - but not good for a young baby - but it is so lightweight and folds up very nicely that it takes up hardly any room so it will be great when we are ready to transition her out of the car seat/snap n go.
I registered for the snap n go after speaking to some friends and family with older kids who regretted not getting one when their kids were first born.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I LOVE my snap and go! And I have the double one! It is such a great stroller for the city! However, my son will out grow it before my daughter will!
I also have a double peg perego aria! I love that stroller to, but my new obession is the double jogger! It is like pushing nothing! So light!
I think the travel systems are bulky and hard to push in the city! Good Luck!

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
we have Graco MetroLite Travel System, many people recommended it when I was pregnant, so I put it on my registry list and we love it, it's so easy to handle , easy to fold with just one hand and we like the infant carseat with it the only thing is that it's a little heavy(but not sure if it's the carseat or my child, lol) . we also have Bagaboo that we got as a gift , it's perfect if you live in the city where you can walk everywhere , I love it , my husband hates it, only thing is ,it's not very easy to take with you in the car , folding and unfolding is too much of a pain in the neck.

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
I would do a Peg Perego P3 and a snap no go and an infant car seat. Iwouldn't do a huge travel system like the Graco Quattro tour because those strollers are heavy...unless you don't mind. If I did go the travel system route I would probably do a Metrolite but still put a snap n go down.

I also have the Pliko P3 and Primo Viaggo carseat. I LOVE them!! DS is now 9 months old and I still used them together as a travel system. I don't have any other stroller and I don't plan on buying one. I just now am starting to put DS in the stroller without the carseat because he likes to sit up and look around now!!
I definitely recommend it!

Same here. I used my Snap & Go to DEATH!! I loved it. I also have a big Graco travel system stroller. Although I still use it occasionally, It is way too heavy, so I got the Peg Perego Pliko. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!

Re: In need of car seat and stroller advice
We had a Snugride. We also had the adapter so we could use it with the stroller of our Mutsy 4Rider.
I love our Mutsy stroller but it is HEAVY and was expensive (MIL bought it for us)
I am thinking of a lighterweight Maclaren or Peg Perego.
