In the mall today, a salesperson wished me...
a Happy Hanukkah. It was actually very nice to hear, and as I was leaving, I heard another employee say to him, "You can't say that!" and his response was, "Yes I can! It IS Hanukkah and I DO wish everyone a happy one!" The other guy was like, "Oh, yeah, I guess it does make sense since it is Hanukkah."
Just thought I'd share

It's really funny how touchy people get about this. I lived in San Francisco for a long time and Chinese New Year is a huge holiday there since there is such a large Chinese population. I had store owners wish me a happy new year during Chinese New Year and I always thought it was nice - the idea that they are celebrating their holiday and sharing it with me. I accept good wishes from all demonimations.

I don't mind being wished a happy Hanukkah....but I AM bothered when this happens:
Salesperson: And a happy hanukkah to you. You're Jewish, right? You look Jewish.
I am NOT Jewish! And how do you LOOK Jewish?

Well, this was just a very simple Happy Hanukkah. I just loved how he yelled at the guy who told him he couldn't say that!

Shorty, not PC at all, but I got so tired of being harassed in the student center by Hillel at Hofstra (they offered members CASH for getting other people to sign up) that I was like "DO I LOOK JEWISH!?!?!?!"

I had this with my friends grandmother. Everytime she saw me she asked me:
"Are ya sure you're not Jewish? Ya look Jewish."

I would have loved if someone wished me a Happy Hannukkah....even though I am not Jewish. Anything would have been nice....I was shopping for a few hours last night and was greeted with absolutely nothing and no holiday greeting when I was rung up.
Seemed like it was any old time of year
