In your experience - do better naps really equal better nighttime sleeping?

For Jack, I don't really think this is the case anymore. He can go without a nap and still sleep the same amount of hours. When he was a baby I do think it was true.

Now, with little Mr. Tyler. I am noticing that if he doesn't get the right amount of daytime sleeping he will wake up at night.

I can't force him to nap (especially with a toddler running around) but I need him to sleep at night.

Any tips on what to do? I try to go for walks when I know he is tired and Jack is itching to get out - but he just doesn't fall asleep. Chat Icon Chat Icon

In my experience I definately do believe the better they nap during the day, the better they sleep at night.

DD is in daycare 2 days per week. She refuses to nap there. While she still will sleep through the night, those are the two nights during the week she is very restless and "noisy" at night.

Even on days at home she naps, but not nap well, she doesn't sleep as soundly.

eh not really. The only time my kids don't nap well is when they arre sick or teething then, of course, they don;t sleep well at night. I think in infancy teh "sleep begets sleep" is true

For us, it's like a revolvong door... Ryan will take NO nap during the day at all, be overtired, and then have a bad night too, then the next day, he will sleep a lot during the day and then STTN with no problems... It's a pretty hellish cycle that I hope will settle down soon.

For C-- YES, 100000%, even still. If she has a horrible nap (or skips a nap), she sleeps HORRIBLY at night.

I have to agree...for both girls.

I even find that if Bella doesn't nap she wakes earlier in the morning. Regardless of an earlier bedtime or a later one.

Absolutely. The better the nap, the happier he is in the evening and more relaxed during our evening routine, which results in good night sleep. My kid is a sleeper though. But if he doesn't nap throughout the day, o boy, he acts satanic and crashes at 6.
