Income needed to be "well off" spinoff

Reading the original post got me thinking. I think me and DH do pretty well, but wished like all people we did better. We make under $250 wished seem to be a number spoken about a lot in the original thread.

So my question, how much more money would you need to consider to be "well off" annually.

For me an extra $100,000 would totally put me there. Would I be wealthy, no but I don't think I would worry much about money.

Ok, screwed up with the poll, just list the number you would need.

I'm not sure what you're asking..

Are you asking how far away we are from 250K? How much more annually we would need to consider ourselves "well off"?

I think we're comfortable right now. We would probably need another $75k atleast to feel well off.

We are comfortable now. Do I consider us "well off", no. Do others? Probably. Double income, no kids. I think alot of it is perspective.

Would it be nice if we both earned more, of course.

We are ok right now. WELL UNDER $250 though. We are in the "between $100 and $130" category.

However, with 3 kids, to be "well off", we would need at least 100,000 more a year.

$100K more would be enough to call us "well off". Though $200K sounds much better. Chat Icon Chat Icon

If we're using the standard of 250k....we'd need a LOT more to be considered well off...we don't even top out at 100k together.

Not using the $250K number I would say another $300K. that's by my definition of well off.

I have a lot of familial financial responsibility coming up and that would be the comfort zone.

See everyone is different.

call me crazy but i feel like you can be "well off" just at $100,000 IF you live simple and within your means someone who makes $300,000 can have a bigger mortgage more debt and still have bill up the wazoo.I just like to tell myself that because dh and i are poorChat Icon

Re: Income needed to be "well off" spinoff

I would consider us "well off" if we made an additional 100,000. We make somewhere around 100,000 now, and we don't have a house or kids, so we are doing well. But, we are buying a house and trying to get PG, so we could definitely use more $$$.

I wish we could make another 100K. We are close to the 165+ range but its two kids and a mortgage. A six figure salary sounds good but you dont get it all in cash--taxes take a large chunk. So 100K more---yeah baby!!!
