Income tax
Ok for all you moms out there that know anything about tax laws I would appreciate some help.
We live in CT right now and my husband has an offer in VT. We are looking to live in NY outside of Albany to give me more opportunities for jobs and the housing there is a bit cheaper then VT.
So my question is are we going to paying through the nose in income tax?? Do we have to pay NY tax and VT tax? How does that work?
I think I read some where the income tax rate in CT is 4.5%, VT 7.0% and NY 7.35%, but I"m not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marci

Re: Income tax
If you live in NYS, you will have to pay NYS tax. If VT has a state income tax, you will probably get a waiver and may have to pay a commuter tax.

Re: Income tax
you will have to file non-resident income taxes in VT, but NYS will give you a credit for it so you are not taxed twice on the same income.
