Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
Yesterday I got a called from my dr's office and my ultra screening showed that I am a increased risk. I cried all day yesterday and this morning. My dr said there may not be anything wrong with my baby and we should seek genetic conseling. Do anyone have advice for me? I am scared should I be or did anyone have the test and showed that they were at a increased risk and they had a healthy baby. Please help me

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
I had horrible ultra screen results. They were so bad that my MD, who previously advised against an amnio was recommending it!
I did in fact have the amnio and it showed a healthy baby!

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
I had a bad result from the ultrascreen as well......mine was high risk due to part of the blood work, the babies neck measurement was fine. I ended up having an amnio, and the baby is fine. please feel free to FM me with any questions.

No, I don't have much advice, but just wanted to say I am really sorry and give you some .
Go see the genetic counselor, and see what other tests are available. You may still have time for a CVS and you definitely have time for an amnio.

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
there are LOTS of false positives on that test, so as hard as it is, please try not to stress about it. i'm sure that further testing will show that everything is fine.

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
My result came back as 1 in 160....I was so upset and it caused me so much anxiety that I ended up having the amnio even though it wouldnt change my mind about the baby. Everything turned out fine. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me.

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
We decided not to do the ultrascreen due to the fact that the doctor said there are so many false positives. He said that all it does is make the parents worry and then they have to wait weeks for the amnio. We decided to do it for two reasons. The first is that l will be 35 when the baby comes. It also decided to do it because it tests so many different things and in the end we wanted to be educated. The results came in last week and the baby is healthy.
I know it going to be hard but try not to worry about it. As I said - the test is not 100% or even 95%.

Sorry you're going through this - I have heard of many instances like the one DancinBarefoot describes, so try to hang in there until you get further testing

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
I am going through the same stress--a week ago my results came back 1 in 25 chance of having a DS baby. I have been a mess since. I went for genetic counseling on Friday and I have to say I feel a little better. The woman spent over an hour with me. She asked me to keep in mind that while my results are 1 in 25, I should try to look at it that I have 96% chance of having a baby that does NOT have DS. I am opting for an amnio (next week). I just need to know. My thoughts are with you

Re: Increased Risk Ultra Screening test results
DD showed a density on her heart around 21 weeks which could be a marker for Downs, by the time I was 28 weeks it disappeared. She is a healthy 8 weeks. These test are not definative for everyone, most cases babies are healthy

Went to see the genetic counselor Madonna peri-natal on Monday. She said that I have a 1 in 214 chance of having a baby with down syndrome. I am 29 years old and she the chances for a 29 years is suppose to be 1 in 694 chance this is why I am a increased risk. I am going to do the amino on 10/19. I will be praying for you.

I agree. DH and I passed on the tests because they have a significant false positive rate. There is a very good chance that if you have an amnio it will show a healthy baby.
