Inducing labor "naturally" ?
So I know there are a bunch of ways to try to induce labor. Some really work, some are old wives tales. At what point in the pregnancy do they work? For example, they say to BD to induce labor. When does BD'ing become more about inducing labor and less about the fun of it (or both ..although I tend to believe the big belly dosen't make it all that comfy).

Re: Inducing labor "naturally" ?
don't mind my TMI but if you want to BD without being that uncomfortable, i highly suggest DTD, ahem, from behind
and since my nurse told me that any baby born past 37 weeks is full term - i am going to be trying those old wives tales today!!

Re: Inducing labor "naturally" ?
I was just reading up on this online and it says that anything past 37 weeks is safe to try to induce your labor naturally. BDing is the most effective, followed by walking. I read one article where a woman tried doing 100 jumping jacks and she went into labor that night! I think DH and I will have to try to BDing first before we consider jumping around the house like maniacs!!!

i dont know if there is any truth to it, but i heard its the sperm that helps to soften the cervix.

Re: Inducing labor "naturally" ?
I have a question, might be stupid, but if BDing can induce labor, wouldn't we not be aloud to BD, so we don't go into pre-term labor?

Try a tablespoon of castor oil in a glass of OJ. MY SIL took this with her 2nd DD. She took it at 12 noon, by 1:00am her water broke and she delievered her daughter at 1:50am

Yes the prostoglandins in the sperm help ripen the cervix "sometimes" But in reality who wants to see a penis 40-42 weeks pregnant Not me!

I was when I read your post because just last night I was thinking that I need to find ways to get things going in the next 2 weeks. I'm just about 35 weeks now and I'm uncomfortable and tired and sick of having GD. I'm giving this kid 2 more weeks and then I'm sending out the eviction notice so anything I can do to get things moving in the coming weeks works for me!!! Keep the ideas coming everyone!!!

Re: Inducing labor "naturally" ?
A woman I work with who used to be a labor coach told me walking and sqautting are best to help induce labor.
Good luck Krista!
