When Pier 1 has sales you can get great deals, and if you open a new charge with them you get an additional 10%. We saved so much on our bedroom set, and it's held up really well.

crate and barrel "assembly" furniture is cheap
also like the others suggestd, ikea or target has geeat prices. bobs is cheap too

Big Lot's - we got our living room set there for $700 complete. Couch/Loveseat/Coffee Table/Two End Tables

you can also check the clearance sections of all the furniture stores
