Infant car seat, if you don't know what you're having

Just wondering what infant car seat you're getting or have if you don't know the sex of the baby? I know the Graco snugride is rated very good in the baby bargains book, but just looking for suggestions.

We used a Chicco Keyfit 30. We got it in the "adventure" color, which is a green. We loved it.

You didn't ask, but in case it helps, we got the seat as part of a travel system with the Chicco Cortina stroller. Definitely a well-made stroller and we got good use out of it, but that thing is heavy and HUGE. If I could do it again I would have gotten the seat and a Snap N Go and switched to the lightweight stroller sooner.

We had the regular SnugRide. We stopped using it at 3.5 months because DS was getting too heavy to lug around. I wouldn't bother with the 32, you aren't going to want to carry a 32 pound baby plus the 10 lb carrier (plus DC may be too tall for the seat by 32 pounds).

Re: Infant car seat, if you don't know what you're having

I got my infant seat for my first son almost three years ago. The Snugride. I never had any issues with it because he was out of this seat at 2 months.

We used it with my second son and he is 6 months and just outgrew the seat (he is 23lbs and the seat goes up to 22lbs) so I def. suggest getting a seat that goes up to at least 30lbs. I had to borrow one from a friend bc I wasn't ready to put him in the convertible carseat just yet. Chat Icon

We were Team Chat Icon when I was pregnant and we registered for all neutral colors. We got the Chicco Cortina Travel System and the colors were a khaki/brown with dark orange trim. Graco, Chicco, etc. all have really nice neutral patterns for their baby gear. Chicco has a really nice black right now that I love! Chat Icon

We got a Chicco Key Fit 30 for Abby in red and beige. It is fine for a boy which is what we are having now.

We knew what we were having but wanted gender neutral color so we got the Graco snugride in the Nouvelle pattern.

we got the graco snugride in lotus. its pretty neutral. my friend has the same one and she has a dd. its the regular one that goes up to 22 lbs but ds was out of there at 19lbs at 5 months old. he was getting squished in it. he is much more comfortable in the convertible.
i agree with the pp - its hard enough to lug a 20lb baby with the car seat weighing 8lbs let alone a 30lb baby with a carseat that weighs 10lbs!

Chicco Keyfit 30 in gray squares color. DD is still in it at 8.5 months.

I got the Graco Snugride in Platinum (which I think they're discontinuing). It was just grey/silver (no real pattern).
