Re: infant cereal warning
sorry about the blank post.....just wanted to let you know that when you buy cereal to check it very closely, a friend of mine who also has a baby told me she found little bugs in her cereal& to check mine closely before i give it to my infant......
i was grossed out but figured she probably left it in her pantry for too long....then i purchased a box of gerber oatmeal that was factory sealed and i poured it out into a bowl to check it, and sure enough wouldnt you know i found a ton of these microscopic little bugs i think they might have been maggots!!!!! gross!
I bought another box of rice cereal from another store and the SAME THING!!!! I will never buy the flake cereal again, my son is 6 months old & I now get the jar of oatmeal/banana or rice/applesauce for his breakfast!!!! Just a FYI!

Re: infant cereal warning
I know this happens a lot, not just with infant cereal, but with things in boxes on store shelves. My mom gets that a lot with drided potato flakes and things like rice. Its the supermarket most likely. Always shop from a clean supermarket and it helps to sometimes come home and store the items in tupperware instead of the box.

Re: infant cereal warning
We had the same problem a couple of years age! We asked an exterminator about it, and he said that we should look very carefully at the glue that holds the cardboard box together. It it appears to be "wearing away," even a little bit, do NOT buy it. EEEWWWW!

I do this with rice, pasta, flour, sugar, etc, I put in glass storage jars straight away!

Re: infant cereal warning
My mom sells tupperware and she claims that the glue that holds boxes together attract certain bugs, so you shouldn't store your food in those containers. I don't know how true that is because she is a saleswoman and they do try to sell thier products, but it is a good idea anyway to always transfer your food into tupperware or similar containers when you get them home -- they just stay fresh longer.
