infants with croup question
my 31/2 month old has croup ..my dr today said to just try one more night with the humidifier and nasal spray.but if she still sounds barky to start the steroids..
dr wants to avoid steroids because she is so young..has anyone had their infant on the steroid treatment? is it a bad thing if she has to be on them?i know NOTHING about this stuff..TIA

I "think" that Luca just had croup. It wasn't that bad and we just stuck with the humidfier until it cleared up.

One of my boys has had recurring croup and has had to be on steriods 2x because of it. Please don't fear it! They really made my son 10x better.
When we had to go tot he ER he sounded like he could barely breathe (he sounded so badly they rushed us right into the ER) and then within 10 minutes of getting the steriods he was sounding almost normal. They only give them very little to take, but it works like a charm.
Also, keep a humidifier in DC room and turn it on every night. That really seemed to help my son as well.

Ds had croup at 5 months. He woke up one morning with no voice and the bad cough. That morning we saw the ped and got him his steroids and by the next day he was sooooo much better!

DS has had the croup twice. He was on steroids and nebulizer. From the dose, he was already feeling better.
