Re: Info. needed on Manorville
DH and I were seriously considering Manorville until we drove out there. Our biggest concerns about buying there were...
-the high taxes -few stores (delis) to run to and pick up small necessities like milk -the school district is still new and developing
You can definitely get a great house at a great price there but there didn't seem to be a "town" feel so we bought in Sayville instead. HTH.

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
We've looked or actually driven around looking by the animal game farm and I just love it. The whole country feel but DH works with some people who said you have to watch certain parts and certain school districts. I also like that your not far from the hamptons in the summer.

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
All of Manorville goes to the same school South Manor School District. The School District is great and very hi-tech the High School is brand new and when they built it we took a tour and it was great. I live not far from the game farm and know exactly the area you are looking at and it is a very nice area. My DH has lived in Manorville for 10 years and as far as I know no area of Manorville is a bad area, it is a middle to upper class neighborhood with very low crime. There is only one big shopping center off Country Road 111 but there is also shopping down the road in Center Moriches and Riverhead. We love the area, and we are in the process of selling and are going to miss Manorville alot. DH opened a new business in Nassau and the commute is to long for him since he is in the car all day, but we love Manorville.

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
I love Manorville, it has changed so much through the years - my dh grew up there when it was all a bunch of woods and dirt roads. They are really building it up nicely. I wish we could afford to live there.

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
Manorville is so nice, but the taxes are high mainly because of the new schools built in the last 5-10 years. I don't know of any bad areas. Its too far out for us, but I think its beautiful

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
I live in Massapequa Park now and love it but to buy a house here for the same as in Manorville...We have 4 kids and property wise you just seem to get so much more. It's quite a hike and it will be some time before we are ready to move but the more I look the more Im convinced that Manorville is what we should aim for. DH's friend at work grew up in Manorville and said that some areas feed into other school districts as well but if South Manor is it? where I want to look then I know what areas Im looking at. I know by McDonalds there(not sure of the road)but there is a supermarket, 7-Eleven and other small shops in a shopping center but Mall wise how far is the closest one?

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
I'm in the process of selling my house in Manorville. I've lived here for 10 years, and wish I didn't have to leave for business reasons, I love it.. The 1 main shopping center on Rt. 111 has always served us fine since we bought our house almost 3 yrs ago. You are also 4-5 miles from the outlets and additional restaurants. I've also enjoyed the quick drive to the hamptons beaches..
Here's the link to my house if anyone's interested

Re: Info. needed on Manorville
Your house happens to be one of the houses I used to convince my son that we could get much more for the money in Manorville then in Massapequa Park.
