Informal Observations - NYC
Anybody have an informal yet? Are you being informed beforehand or does your admin want them to be all unannounced? The whole process is just frustrating because what if they come in during the "wrong" 15 minutes and that part of the lesson is not as observable as you'd like it to be.

Informal Observations - NYC
I had one on Friday. It was unannounced. Our UFT rep recommended that every time we have one to send letter to the admin basically acknowledging their visit and state what you were doing prior to them walking and and what you would continue doing once they walked out. This way you cover all bases should they "claim" it was a poor lesson.

She is giving us a range. Every grade has a week assigned to them.

We had our goals meetings. I'm having my formal observation this week bc they want to get it in before I go out on maternity leave.

Informals they can't use your lesson plan as evidence.
But for your formals you can give every piece of evidence you want

I had one. Unannounced. There was a short post ob but just verbal. No paperwork on my end. He was in for 7 minutes or so. All was fine.

I had one. My AP came in for about 5 minutes. I was doing a read-aloud. It was unannounced, but I heard a rumor she was doing them, so we all spread the word.
